Yeah, I had it running in the back ground when it showed up. Didn't have a chance to put in my initials though.

The last guy at the end was tough to kill. Fairly enjoyable and brainless. No idea what my final score was, it was over 2 million.
Certainly put in more coins than 16.

Good shout. The top 100 I saw didn't show much gameplay when it mentioned this one.
Seconded. Possibly thirded.

Re: CGC Round 6 core: Nintendo Game Boy Advance
I'll second Drill Dozer as that was on my list after going through a top 100 video. I've only played the Zelda games on an emulator from this handheld, so all games are new to me and I've not used the MiSTer core yet either. So others that looked interesting are... Mario vs Donkey Kong Wario Land 4 Castlevania: Circle of the Moon Like you I'd also ...

Not played it either. If I squint a bit I guess I could pretend it's Shinobi.

So it looks like there's 6 pyramids with 10 levels each.
I keep dipping into this when I get a spare moment and am currently on the 4th level in the 2nd pyramid so far.

Re: CGC Game 4: King's Valley 2 (MSX) [Computer]
You were definitely right. Stage 4 was much easier than 3 when I tried it a second time. I wonder how many levels there are, I'm really starting to enjoy this game :) Yes it's good. Level 6 was a bit of a pain waiting around, hoping it's not too much more of that. As an aside, if you're using the library linked in the YouTube clip at the top of th...

4th was easier than third in the end. The grey walls rotate and you pass through from the lighter side.

Re: CGC Game 4: King's Valley 2 (MSX) [Computer]
Early thoughts. This is an interesting puzzle platformer that is also pretty hard. You sort of need to figure out the stage in your head before you start anything, or you might/will get stuck with no way to finish the level. If anyone knows what key you can use to restart a level - let me know. But it's really addictive. Even though I'm stuck on t...

Japanese bonkers. Played Pistols.
I think I only got to the end of stage one, 46470. It seems it's more about dodging bullets than hitting things.

Looking forward to seeing if the PSX Trackball and Negcon works.

Re: CGC Round 4 core: MSX!
I was hoping the random core would be the X68000 this time. I need the motivation to solder my MT32 Pi Lite hardware together finally, and I'm certain I'd do it if that were the random pick. But I'm still plenty happy to finally play some MSX games too. It's another core I have no idea about. The games look amazing on it. I've not got the MT-32 Pi...

Re: CGC Round 4 core: MSX!
Space Manbow - Looks like a reasonable shooter for a mid 8bit machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcZJ64PgtgA I also like the look of King's Valley 2, so I'll second that. Aliens looks a bit clunky, but then a lot of games on this system do. I love Bosconian, played that in the arcades a lot back then. But I'd rather play it on another platfor...

Re: CGC Round 4 core: MSX!
I had a Yamaha CX5M late 80s early 90s with the 4-operator FM synthesizer SFG-01 module. I never played any games with it, it was purely a sound machine for the studio and only used with the music software cartridges. Log Bass was a favourite programmed sound I'd made from it. Very acid house. I'll look through some YouTube and see if there's some ...

Re: CGC Game 3: Seirei Senshi Spriggan (TG16/PCE CD) [Console]
I'd not set up my TG16 core, so it was a journey getting things working. I have a 1TB solid state external USB drive to put larger format games on. So I needed to copy the directory and bios across. I then found out that you had to press 'run' to get the CD image to load, so controller mapping was important. I've played it a couple of times, but mo...

Re: Arcade Cabinet builds and MisterCades: DIY, custom made orders, conversions, etc.
I'll be following this with interest. I think a major part of getting these cores to feel as they were is to get the controls right. I've been thinking about what is my ideal design, and like you mention, putting everything on one surface is too much to navigate around. The thing with cabinets is there's a lot of empty space especially if you're us...

Re: CGC Game 2: Grobda [Arcade]
It's not just that the shield is missing, it looks like the turret should rotate too!!
Do we know who built this core, it'd be good to get the extra controls implemented as this looks a really good Robotron type game.

Re: CGC Inaugural Game: Lupin III [Arcade]
Yeah I think one bag is faster than carrying two. I played on a cheap Hori Fighting stick. It certainly helped on the 90 degree turns. I kinda liked the games premise. An illusionist thief with a random warp mechanic. The cabinet artwork fills in the plot. After watching the youtube play through, it'd be good if the levels changed. But with ram res...

Re: What Do You Think Will Happen Once MiSTer Reaches It's Limits?
Consoles were always going to be behind and compared to 'then' current PC hardware. Doom changed home and arcade gaming forever for me in 1994. What the PS1 core does and the ao486 can't do, is show off that early development in 3d gaming well on the MiSTer. I think there's a natural break at PS1 and Saturn cores for the DE-10. Plenty of Arcade cor...

There's a hardware context here. Those PS1 games look much better with interlace fields the system was designed around.

I've got to agree that they will come up relatively sparsely compared to an arcade game. Maybe it could rotate between Arcade, Computer, Console each week?

Got mid way through the second stage so far. 4920 points.
You only have so many magic points that allow you to teleport randomly in the maze by pressing fire when you're cornered.

No I'll stick to three I've chosen and let others chime in.
I think the initial parameters are good, as this is basically the beginning of arcade type machines. And well, it's always good to start from the beginning.
