Re: Acorn Archimedes Core

Hi again, It appears that the solution to the error ""Not enough memory for system variable at line 4960" is *configure systemsize 32K", as well as all of the IDEFS configuration which is of course also necessary. I now have tontonkaloun's disk running in Arculator 2, using this configuration. D. Edited to correct misunderstandi...

Re: Acorn Archimedes Core

Hi, This latest version - together with the CMOS file - seems to work for me.

I didn't get the error that Chris23235 got.

Thanks,

Daniel

SIDKidd wrote: Thu Aug 27, 2020 8:26 pm Yeah, I've tried yesterday to copy from scratch and had the same issue.
My workaround was using the cmos.dat from my first CROS install.
Thanks, I'll try it.

Re: Acorn Archimedes Core

There are two requesters "Please insert 'CROS4'", one when the RiscOS boot picture shows and again when switching to desktop. I've always waited until they disappered, unfortunatelly I don't remember much from tweaking around the OS anymore... Maybe someone can help me with getting rid of those errors. Hello, Thanks very much for sharing...

Re: Acorn Archimedes Core

After a bit of head scratching (and swearing) I managed to get the core working with an HD image, and to install and configure Uniboot, so thanks very much for the great work. I've been testing a few games, and most of them work fine. One exception is Twinworld, which has corrupted graphics. Also, any attempt to use ADFFS results in an unrecoverabl...

Re: Any love for the QL?

That's actually quite strange, because on my system, "dir win_" gives "not found". SMSQ/E has configurable language codes, keyboards and messages, and the very latest version (3.36) - later than the one for the Mister core (3.34) - has Spanish. I kind of doubt this will help with the Psion programs though :( Anyway, good luck wi...

Re: Any love for the QL?

The correct syntax is "dir win1_", so if you did "dir win_" then "not found" is the correct answer.

Re: Any love for the QL?

Hi,

I would try the core with a standard Spanish ROM and see if it works.... Good luck :)

And yes, .WIN is short for Winchester.

Re: Any love for the QL?

Two updates: I realised that the .WIN file that I linked to has almost no free space on it. I have transferred everything over to a bigger file and as soon as I am sure it is all working I'll upload it. I have noticed that all of the files have today's date and time after copying, so if that's a problem for anyone then .... I managed to get ...

Re: Any love for the QL?

Hi, Go to https://www.kilgus.net/ql/mister/ for Marcel Kilgus' QL core for Mister. It has a Gold Card implementation with accelerated CPU, and can support .win files and a special version of SMSQ/E. You have to boot into Minerva, and then LRESPR the SMSQ/E from your boot file. After a bit of head scratching. I managed to make a single boot file th...

Re: Any love for the QL?

Hi all, Here is my slightly customised QLE Distribution for Marcel Kilgus' Mister core: QLE.ZIP Download https://www.kilgus.net/soft/qlsd108_bin.zip from Marcel's site. Extract Minerva_1.98a1_qlsd108.bin and rename it to boot.rom. This is your QL Minerva ROM. Put it the QL folder on your Mister SD card. Download and unzip the file. Put it on your M...

Re: Any love for the QL?

Very interesting @danielb, thank you for the information and for the links. To be honest, I put the QL aside as I was not that much interested by this model and now you made me want to try it. It's definitely worth a look, but be patient because it can be a bit quirky if you're not used to it. Hopefully, I might be able to post my preconfigured .w...

Re: Any love for the QL?

I tried, it's nice to be able to boot on a vhd! I pretty much understood to create the vhd file. Hi, The ".win" file is a native QL virtual hard disk file. It is often called "qxl.win" for historical reasons. The QL is a very interesting and very unconventional system that still hangs on to life in the form of emulators, modern...

Re: Rememotech MTX ported to MiSTer by retrovader [Yo_Me]

Hi again,

Since I wrote my last message, I found that I can reliably access the partitions on the VHD, but only at 6.25 and 8.333Mhz. At slower speeds, I either get a freeze, or "Bad sector".

Also, I have had no success loading tapes with retape. CP/M games seem to load OK.

Thanks again for this core.

Re: Rememotech MTX ported to MiSTer by retrovader [Yo_Me]

Hi all, Thanks for this core - the Memotech is a computer I remember being curious about, but I've never actually seen a real one :) After trying this core for a while, my main issue is that I can very seldom switch to drive B:. I've tried a second SD card, and a couple of VHD files (one downloaded, one made by me) and the results are always the sa...

Re: 32-bit cores

This is a great core. The Solaris and SunOS both work great, particularly Solaris, which seems tp run perfectly. With Solaris, just wait (there is a lot of waiting with this core) until you get a graphical login screen and then log in as root. NextStep seemed problematic, The first couple of times that I tried loading it, it got all the way to the ...
