Is the PICO-8 source code open? Or at least a spec for the file format it uses?

Re: Daemonbite stuck inputs? [SOLVED]

I found the issue after a lot of debugging... there was nothing wrong with the adapter. The culprit was the "mouse emu/sniper" button, which was assigned to one of my regular gameplay buttons. When that button is down... it looks like the framework stops listening to other updates, so if you release any other buttons while holding it down...

Re: Daemonbite stuck inputs?

I tried to set the debounce to 20ms, and plugged a different power supply to the USB hub (to rule out any power issues), but it's still happening.
I wonder if it has to do with the USB hub...

Edit: nope, it's not the hub. :( mystery still pending

Daemonbite stuck inputs? [Solved]

I've just upgraded to Daemonbite adapters, and since then started having stuck inputs with SFZ3. I suspected it's a debouncing issue with the joystick but I'm still having the problem if I recompile the firmware #define DEBOUNCE 1. (compiled from: https://github.com/MickGyver/DaemonBite-Arcade-Encoder) I've checked that 1ms polling is on too. Has a...

I wired a buck converter (12V to USB 5V) from my cabinet power supply, so the MiSTer turns on when the cab is on.

Re: Share your Super Game Boy Borders Here

I thought it just was able to extract the borders from the ROM like a Super Gameboy would. If it was a Super Gameboy the core would have some of the enhancements like in Donkey Kong which it currently doesn't. Right, it doesn't do the full Super Gameboy implementation. From the readme of the core: Super Gameboy Support - Borders, Palettes and Mult...

If I'm not mistaken, these use the Super Gameboy functionality to display,
so it's restricted to what the original hardware could show.

The DE-10 Nano is a development board, so it makes sense to use it to prototype other things that aren't MiSTer.

I've got the GRS spinner and it's super nice. The 2600 and 7800 cores also support spinners.

I'd love for the Apple II core to support it, but sadly, it doesn't seem to be the case.

Re: HotRod SE controlling the GUI

I'm having a similar problem with an I-PAC2. Basically the issue is keyboards are assumed to have all keys (e.g. F12, PrtScr, etc) and it's not possible to change that behavior at the moment (at least as far as I know). That said, for the I-PAC, it's possible to change key bindings using a utility from their website. Check if your encoder allows th...

Re: Is MiSTer FPGA Overkill For My Needs?

So I just decided to take the hit. I've gone a bit overboard by ordering a digital IO board (...) Congrats! The IO board is still handy for the User IO connector (for MIDI and SNAC adapters) and the 2nd SD card (for some computer cores). I'd be interested in knowing your impressions vs. expectations after you get it. Mostly I think MiSTer is as go...

Rendering/scaling latency - the time it takes for the frame to be rendered, scaled, and sent to the TV or monitor. 3. Input latency - the time it takes for a button press or input to be detected and processed accordingly Indeed the same LCD...

Re: Is MiSTer FPGA Overkill For My Needs?

I'm all for software emulation (especially 3D systems) but it's best to do it on a powerful desktop PC with a good CPU and GPU. Chances are you have a machine like that already, so might as well use it (and then it's free). I haven't tried the RPi4 and the latest distros, but my experience with Pi2 and Pi3 was it was too under-powered to emulate we...

$256 may be the unit price to dissuade hobbyists. For all we know if you buy in bulk (100s or 1000s) it may go down significantly.

This is just not practical. There are tens of thousands of different games across systems, and it would be really hard to have images for all in a standard format that could be used across MiSTer.

Re: HDMI CEC and the MiSTer.

You can also use these HDMI IR extenders, which are cheaper than the Lindy dongle:

You basically set them to "IR" mode to disable the CEC pin.
