Re: Atari 7800 / 2600

I did not get snac working with the 2600-part of the core. Only with the 7800 part. Also I did not get paddles working nor the Indy 500 driving controllers. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I tried all options that I could think of. Paddles do not work via snac, they are analog. Paddles do work with the Atari DB9 snac, but you have to...

mix and match various usb paddles. Mouse, analog sticks, and various spinners all work.

Lots of people ask this actually. "Is this as good as a super nt?" Although, less every passing month.

It's fine to share it, just be aware that it's pretty unstable. Some things work okay, most things eventually have problems.

a bit necro but i'm glad you got it figured out. It can be sensitive to both compression quality of mp3's (it's data!) and volume levels.

Re: Missing Sound Channels (Blue’s Journey, Others?)

This core is sourced from multiple parts. The basis of its ASICs were from Furrtek's talented decapping, tracing, and conversion to HDL. The cpus are the venerable fx68k and the battle-tested t80, however the sound chips (the 2610 in particular) have had numerous problems since the inception of this core. Greyrouge, myself, and others have done qui...

Re: Supervision, Gamate, and SGB Borders

The video timings of these cores is a little odd because it tries to keep up with the original systems clocks for smoothness. I'm not sure how to fit that many extra pixels horizontally without disrupting the native clock. They are also different resolutions than gameboy so there would be spaces/overlap with the borders.

New Core: Bit Corporation Gamate
-Cons: Another rare Gameboy clone handheld
-Pros: Better than SuperVision

This core requires a bootrom to work, see the readme for details.

New Core: Watara SuperVision
-Originally by Pierco, reworked by me
-Budget handheld, fully library is supported
-60hz refresh is suggested for CRT's (on by default)
-Flickering is normal, the original handheld's video output was.. quaint.

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU

Amazing work paul! Personally, I prefer to use the Game Boy core bc of savestates. Regardless, this is still really cool! Btw, is it possible to port the code of the special audio to the existing Game Boy core? I don't care as much about the borders personally, but the SGB audio is the only thing that I feel is missing from the standard Game Boy c...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU

Yes I have also seen this happen and I still have to investigate this but for me it freezes with a random garbage screen. One time it was fixed by switching the SGB bios. Maybe the sdram is not refreshing during the cart loading? I had problems with the sdram data decaying on the 7800 core if the core was paused for too long, perhaps it's related ...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU

Should we add it as a separate repo on MiSTer-devel or as a new branch on the SNES repo? Maybe the latter would make it easier to apply commits from the main SNES branch. I don't think this is a good idea. The two cores that have a branch system like this (gba 2p and gb 2p) have both been problematic to maintain because of the unconventional setup...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU

Thinking more about this - I wonder if it would be possible to have the SGB core load into the FPGA only when a .GB rom is selected from within the regular SNES core, and have the SGB core otherwise hidden. This way it would be transparent to the end user, and still "feel" like they are using the regular SNES core, even though in the bac...

Re: Super Game Boy SNES core with MSU

Magnificent work Paul! All the edge cases seem to work, Space Invaders, audios, high colors, msu1. I didn't try games that support multi-tap.

My only suggestion is to add an aspect ratio for gameboy non-stretched aspect for people who prefer proper gameboy AR.

Great job!

Neither masks nor filters are capable of this, nor will anything else ever be on this current generation of mister hardware. You need shaders for this which require a GPU.

Yeah I'm referring to the black screen hang. I was just surprised as it's one or the few games to have such obvious issues. I fixed some of the 32x specific issues, but the remaining ones I think are all part of either the reworked genesis implementation or the SH2 chip. Trying to learn these bits of code without Sergey available to comment on the...

Re: Is there room for a merged Genesis/CD/32X core?

It's more than just size. Genesis uses several chips that are coordinated by a bus arbiter that kind of works like a traffic cop for the system. Currently, this particular part of the system isn't perfect in our cores. Each of the three genesis cores has a slightly differing implementation for it that doesn't work well for the full library. Sergey ...

Re: Graphical glitches with March 26 core

This looks like marginal timings failing to me. Probably is a bad build that fails timings depending on silicon lottery of your fpga. It's probably caused by all the recent additions to the scaler stressing the fpga. Try building without adaptive scanlines and see if that build clears up the issues.

I second that sentiment, thanks so much Rysha! I actually didn't realise it had been released, weirdly it never came down for me, I think because I had a test build on there.
