Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache

Found the issue I was having. Switched ftp apps recently and in the config it had a setting to transfer files with no extension as ascii. Used Binary for "MiSTer" file and it's working now.

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache

I made a build of the latest updates: ao486_caldor_cache42b.7z I can't seem to get this one to boot up, but I haven't tried the beta core since one of the early ones. I've tried booting from floppy images, various vhds (including the freedos 1.3 one), swapping the floppy/hdd boot order and it always finds no boot devices. Any ideas on what I could...

Re: How does ao486 handle 70 Hz DOS games? (i.e. almost all DOS games?)

this has since been updated for super vga Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean? Are you talking about VBEHz or UniRefresh? Do they actually force 60 Hz for the games so they don't have judder? ...or does that cause the games to run differently, etc? I'm still confused on the whole 70 Hz (mode 13h?) thing, except for knowing that converting 70 Hz to 6...

Re: Nextstep on ao486?

It is possible to mount ISO images in the *-DOS environment, check this post out: https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=7380#p7380 Sorry, I should have been more specific. I realize you can mount .iso files in dos, but I think to install Nextstep, you have to boot from a Nextstep boot floppy, and then from there it loads cdrom support and install...

Nextstep on ao486?

I was doing the usual Youtube rabbit hole last night and came across a video on running Nextstep OS 3.3 on a 486. Never realized they released it for Intel PCs. Got me thinking that it might be a fun project for Mister, but upon some further research, it looks like it only installs from a CD which I assume has to be accessible at the hardware level...

Re: OPL3 Test

I love the strive for accuracy, do we have any idea how far off the existing a0486 implementation is from this one? I've seen some people show graphs comparing wave output on the various console cores, I wonder if something similar could be done for this core?

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache

Has anyone figured out the shared folder feature yet? One of the main pain points for me with the original core was getting new stuff on there. I would always have to open the vhd on my pc, copy files on, then re-ftp it over. Would be great to just ftp a game directory each time I wanted to add something!

Re: 1084s Commodore RGBs cable/ini config

Success! 3R0N2Jn.jpg Still need to solder up a cable, but having it working with a test setup(monitor is open because I'm waiting on some capacitors to do a re-cap): l8zm1Vq.jpg For anybody needing the same setup, the wiring I used was: VGA -> 6 pin din connector (looking into connector on the back of the monitor starting with 1 at top left going a...

Re: 1084s Commodore RGBs cable/ini config

Thanks! Lots of good info there. So it looks like the mister will output hsync and vsync separately or composite sync on the hsync pin? I've got an oscilliscope so I'll take a look at the signals before hooking it up to my monitor, haven't messed around with video signals all that much, but between Mister, and having to replace a flyback on the 108...

1084s Commodore RGBs cable/ini config

I've got a Commodore 1084s monitor with RGBs din connector input. I've got the parts to make a cable, but just wanted to confirm the details before I start. It looks like the Mister vga out on the io board has a r,g,b, h-sync, v-sync, and ground pins. I can just wire those directly to the din connector on the monitor end? I've seen various cable so...

Re: FTP Password

I have this problem also mine happened after a update no more ftp.. Update Ok I can connect but can't get to the root all I get is ../ Still having the issue? Your ftp client is likely starting out in the root users home directory. You need to step up one directory (often clicking on the ".." directory) then you should see a list of fold...

Re: FTP Password

You could also try hitting f9 on the Mister which will drop you to a linux prompt/login. See if root password of 1 still works there. If it doesn't, then you ruled out something ftp/setting related from the PC side.

Re: VGA on CRT computer monitor unstable signal

Semi-solved the issue, seems to be connection/grounding related. I initially was just testing with the video output at the menu, but finally went into a game and noticed that the sound was cutting out as well as the video with has nothing to do with the monitor as the audio outputs seperatly from the adapter. So it's probably not the mister setting...

VGA on CRT computer monitor unstable signal

Just got a CRT VGA monitor for free, first one I've had in awhile (HP mx75). I've tried various combinations in the mister.ini I can't seem to get a stable signal. The Mister menu/background comes up, but then blinks to black every second or so, comes back, and just sits in that pattern. I'm using the hdmi->vga adapter off of the de10 board as I do...
