Code: Select all

execute "AGS:Run/Game/ReshootProxima3"

The game folder is stored in: Data/WHD/G/R/ReshootProxima3

Point the execute command to the binary you run to start the game. And, I highly recommend doing all this on Saves: so it will survive upgrading the main HDF.

Re: Add Games to MegaAGS?

The easiest way to add games that will survive upgrades is to use the “Favorite” function on an existing game, and edit those files to point at your new install (also put that one on MegaAGS-Saves.hdf to make it survive upgrades. So, roughly, something like this: Install your game using the HD installer, put it somewhere on Saves: From the launcher...

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.07.17 Released with Improved Launcher Reliability

I wonder if MegaAGS for Pocket could be split up into 3 games hdf, 4GB each, plus the one hdf for saves, to get more games on Pocket. I know there’s the 4GB hdf limit on Pocket but it does allow mounting 4 hdf simultaneously. 3 separate hdf would give 12 GB for games. It might be enough for all the games. Yes, we did experiment with a configuratio...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

I know and I used it, but it breaks a bit the experience to launch an emulator, even an accurate one. My message was in general that some computer cores could improve. Fully agreed! That being said, besides the startup Mac chime, it should launch straight into Mac OS, and you shouldn’t see any Amiga-related bits when you start it up. At least the ...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

The importance of this can't be understated. Hello, and welcome to my pet peeve that I am single-handedly correcting one forum post and YouTube/Twitter comment at a time 😂 This is super common, but the term is “cannot be overstated” — since you intend to say that one cannot put a high enough importance on it. “Cannot be understated” would mean tha...

Re: So What Happened in 2023?

They are roughly comparable, the Amiga core is about the same as a 68030 running at 50 MHz, the LC III/III+ was an ’030 at 25/33 MHz.

(And yes, as many YouTube videos will point out, the fastest Classic Mac ever was… an Amiga. You could run Shapeshifter on a 68060, which was never possible on the Mac itself)

Re: So What Happened in 2023?

Pleez I ask Santa to repair the MacPlus core sound for 2024 Just making sure that you are aware of the Shapeshifter setup for the Amiga core, gives you a Mac OS 7.5.5 or 8.1 setup that runs most Mac games up to and including SimCity 2000. (The Mac didn’t really have much in the way of custom chips, so the Amiga emulation setup is very accurate, si...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

E.g. while minimig core is close to cycle accurate for the most common of the amiga chipsets, the MiSTer framework doesn’t support all of the io features of the original hardware. For example you can’t use applications that require multi-mouse input (like multiplayer Lemmings and Settlers). Agreed that features like this are more important for the...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

Mostly agree for Mister overall but the A1200 example is well outside the bounds of "good enough." Its much faster than the real thing, like a turbo switch you can't shut off, which causes much software to run very differently. In another thread it is written that the Amiga1200 core is running too fast... somebody know if that is true? I...

I recommend getting a DaemonBite-based DE9 adapter, since random adapters off Amazon often introduce latency. Several of the MiSTer shops sell it.

Re: Amiga VGA Output Should it Fill The Screen?

The whole PAL vs NTSC thing is a bit of a rabbit hole anyway. It's not always crystal clear what the intended resolution was supposed to be, and then you also have the nostalgia factor clouding the issue. It’s not that complicated (although of course people would run NTSC games like Defender of the Crown incorrectly in PAL at the time since their ...

Re: Amiga VGA Output Should it Fill The Screen?

This is actually how it is in PAL on real hardware. And MiSTer displays 1:1 Amiga image over analogue. Most micros had borders but the image was more or less centered, Amiga is an a exception. Examples: 1 2 3 Indeed — except for #2 in your examples, that’s a game from a US game publisher (Electronic Arts), and should be run in NTSC. It will then f...

Re: Minimig with Amigavision and Aspect Ratio Correction

Third, unfortunately, "Jim Sachs mode" has a complication. As far as I can tell the concept that Amiga NTSC Low-res (320x200) has a 5:6 PAR is derived by stretching 320x200 into a 4:3 frame, now it's 320x240, done... I wish things were that easy... There's a go-to tool for this job: Rec. 601. The point of the “Jim Sachs mode” is exactly ...

Re: Amiga VGA Output Should it Fill The Screen?

Funny thing is I don't remember there being such a big black area at the bottom. I know it's game dependant, but I just can't recall that. I just looked it up and I had the Philips CM8833. I'm wondering would it have auto centred the image? Maybe that's why it's not familiar. Or maybe it was just too long ago for me to remember  The CM8833 is...

Lol AmigaVision is exactly what I had in mind, some games run far too fast on it. Major Motion is semi unplayable, prohecy:viking child speeds up in some places. I imagine the WHD load guys have added timing fixes for real A1200s but the Mister is still too much. As always, file bugs, and we will take a look — with 3000+ game configurations availa...

Re: Amiga VGA Output Should it Fill The Screen?

Additionally, over HDMI (and I know this is not what you’re asking about ;) you can apply 5× scaling, and we do it on a per-game basis in AmigaVision — this also covers why there is a black area at the bottom, using Gods as one of the examples: https://amiga.vision/5x/ Amiga monitors also had ways to resize and move the image, and we would often ad...

I use the “Amiga CD32 Setup for MiSTer” that is on archive.org. It boots CD32 Emulator and then you just mount the CHD in the second IDE menu. Has an MGL for putting in Consoles too.
