Haven’t really heard about this, but it depends what kind of 040 core it potentially is replicating, whether it includes FPU at all. 68EC040 had neither FPU nor MMU, 68LC040 had MMU, but no FPU.

Re: Is the Atari Falcon 030 possible in MiSTer?
It requires quite a few things that don't exist currently:
* full 68030 (not EC) softcore instead of the current 68020 tg68
* 56001 DSP softcore
and possibly also 68882 softcore (with 80bit precision)

Re: Best Launcher?
TinyLauncher is wicked, it just assigns env: to ram: for no good reason, leaving the system in confusion. Can you elaborate a bit more on this? If you look inside the binary TinyLauncher.exe, you will find two strings "C:Assign ENV: RAM:" and "C:Assign T: RAM:", these are commands that are executed when TinyLauncher.exe starts....

Re: Shared Folder Discussion
From what I recall, there is a “Control” mount option, which could be used to configure charset options. An option to set volume name would also be welcome. (Or for that matter, a option to specify path on the Linux side (so one can have several mounts), though then I would actually much rather see superfast network link and just use existing netwo...

Re: Shared Folder Discussion
This is great!
I have a few uhm points I just wish to air
* a version string in MiSTerFileSystem would be useful, just a running number and the build date.
* DEVS:Mountlist is kinda old school, modern day (post 1.x?) is to use a DEVS:DOSDrivers/SHARE (well, I call it MR0) - maybe provide both options?

Re: RDB has illegal CHS values
Check with HDToolBox, you will probably find that the two files have different layouts in RDB, that is different values for Cylinders, Heads and blocks per cylinder etc - solution is read disk layout and write it back to RDB, but that also means repartition, reformat, reinstall etc. (It doesn't help that HDToolBox from the different OS releases dis...

Re: Real floppy drive
For all single disk games usually you can get around using DF2 and such by using the special Amiga boot where you hold down the left and right mouse-button during boot and force some specific drive to be the primary boot drive. No, that was exactly what she wrote is not the case with many old games, they typically use a custom trackloader that thr...

Many old cracks also alter the games in rather unforgivable ways (missing scenes in Moneky Island, iirc) - mostly better to use games recently prepared with whdload from original media than to use ADFs of old cracks.

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
Well, I would love to learn how AmigaDOS at very base level depends on the Amiga chipset (I am curious since TRIPOS which AmigaDOS derive from, doesn’t depend on it), and how P96 need to mirror chipram for Workbench, especially since P96 also work on “clone systems” (like the mentioned Draco) that doesn’t have chipram... it’s great that we have an...

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
Oh dear word no. The ARM side is nowhere near fast enough to provide satisfaction. Really, 800MHz Cortex-A9 is not that much different than the 900MHz Cortex-A7 in Raspberry Pi 2, right? It MIGHT be enough for the 020 core itself There is no "core" when we speak of software emulation of a CPU, it's a matter of translating 68k instruction...

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
I think the concern here isn't about "purity" as such, more that there are already situations where input responsiveness (which is one of the Amiga's defining characteristics) is slightly compromised - such as during disk access. I don't imagine it will be an insurmountable problem, but certainly something to keep in mind as more facilit...

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
found deluxe paint v crashes when try to open in a rtg mode also iv and 5.2 This is quite normal - DPaint5 predates P96 and CGfX3, was put together in a hurry and is quite buggy all over. DPaint4.6 on AGA is the most rock solid combination. It would be amazing if Electronic Arts still had sources for DPaintV and could make them available, so prope...

Re: Operating Systems
Amiga web browsers work fine as long as you stay with “retro friendly” (html 3.2/4 pure) websites. It helps to use a proxy running on the linux side.
Also, AROS works (if you’re willing to jump some hoops), but it’s more for tinkering than gaming.

Re: Sponsoring RTG support
Right, the way this chunky mode framebuffer is implemented on MiST, it is more as an extension of AGA than as a dedicated graphics card
Old picasso cards on zorro2 were also quite slow too btw
Speed on RTG relies a lot on the CPU, because, as I have mentioned numerous times now, RTG is most of all software.
