Re: Choosing a New Power Supply For MiSTer

I have the 5A Meanwell wall-wart version, very portable and has been working great. I plug it into a wall socket switch, so no more on/off switch in the 5 volt cable.

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

This project is a fantastic idea. Like the Steam Deck or Vita being used to stream from PC or PS5. I've also wanted to be able to connect a 15Khz monitor to a PC for a very long time, primarily for correct display of arcade cores. I love all the extra options people have been developing for the MiSTer, like SAM, TTY2OLED, mt32-pi, YC cores, the rem...

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I didn't know Retrocastle made an active adapter. I ordered one. Now to see if I can have your design printed somewhere.

I wonder if the touch functionality works like a standard mouse and if it would work well with some of the mouse-controlled games on MiSTer, that would be pretty neat.

If Jotego would be able to create a generic solution for highscores, I think it should be pretty high on the priority list, as highscores are an important element of arcade games.

Re: SNAC for Commodore/Atari computers

So, it's confirmed that C64 and Amiga cores don't support SNAC? There is a D9 made just for paddles and the MiSTer, but I don't have that one and have no issues with the regular one. That's the Daptor PDL, works well if you are experiencing paddle jitter caused by grounding problems. Sadly the VIC-20 core (and IIRC the C64 core) doesn't support an...

There was in fact a problem with the 32MB SDRAM address multiplexing causing that issue and that has been fixed. I have released the System-1 in the official MiSTer repo since all the major problems affecting gameplay have been addressed.

I noticed that running update_all yesterday! Roadblasters looks fantastic now.

Re: Spinners, Trackballs, and the Setting 0xFFFF

The 'spinner' setting is probably for MiSTer Spinner. Just like the 'paddle' setting is often also for the MiSTer specific interface. I wish the cores with those settings also had an option to choose mouse or analog joystick (which is what regular USB paddle adapters translate to).

Great to hear that it is working again! That is an odd solution, sounds like the contacts of the card or slot might have been dirty, but that seems a bit unlikely.

I hope your eyes are doing well!

Re: No Picture and Blinking Lamps

Often this indicates a problem with the SD Card, IIRC it even behaves like this without an SD Card inserted, or when people accidentally inserted it in the slot of the Analog board. I once had this problem, created a new MiSTer installation on another SD Card, using Mr. Fusion and copied the files over to my old card (except for the ini files that ...

Re: Electronic Games/Electronic Board Games + MADrigal Simulators

I would love to see more electronic games, LCD/VFD handhelds and tabletops on MiSTer. The Game & Watch core is fantastic, also on the Analogue Pocket. And we already have an Epoch Galaxy II and Tomy Scramble core. I have a small collection of LCD and VFD games, a number of them are still fun to play. My first electronic game was Amaze-a-Tron by...

Re: SNAC Version of C64/C16/VIC-20

Agreed. Even the VIC-20 has support for paddles and light-pens (which means a light gun would also work). A couple of official Commodore cartridges support paddles (like Omega Race) or even need them (like Pinball Spectacular). Personally, I would love analog input support for the Commodore cores, so I can use my Daptor D9 and PDL with my original ...

Re: Dedicated Vertical Setup, Best to CW or CCW?

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the amount of games that support a certain orientation.

My (iPad) monitor can turn both ways, but setting most to the same direction is more practical. What I did to choose a preferred orientation, was check which of my favorite games only supported one orientation.

Also, don't forget how power-efficient the MiSTer is, compared to the amount of energy needed for a fast enough system to achieve the same accuracy and low latency.

That device you linked on Amazon will not work. It's a serial to usb adapter, not a 9-pin joystick to usb adapter.

Re: How to use my old C64/Amiga Competition Pro Joystick with my MiSTer?

That one will probably work fine, don't know what latency it has. I have an USB adapter with two ports and found out its latency isn't great.

I have a Daptor D9 (and Daptor PDL) that have very good latency and work with a lot of controller types. They are a bit expensive though, especially with the added shipping to Europe.

Re: Mapping Keyboard to Gamepad?

The C64 (and Mini) / The VIC-20 have functionality to map keys to controller buttons per game. They can only map a preset collection of keys though. It is really handy though and used with a lot of games. That's because they have a fixed list of games with predefined settings. As a comparison, on MiSTer you could use MGL files to boot each core pr...

The core runs fine on my iPad screen, so that shouldn't be causing trouble.

This is a huge improvement! Very handy for Atari 8-bit cores, for instance. Also for Commodore 8-bit machines.

I never expected this to be implemented so suddenly. There have been multiple discussions about it before.
