Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
Ok, the “no change is good change” zealots can now throw stones. I'm not going to throw stones, but what is stopping you, and all the others in this thread who want things simpler, to download the sources, and make a front-end for yourselves ? As mentioned above, I’d chip in some cash if someone with the skills wants to do it. I don’t have the ski...

Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
I believe that my concern is misunderstood, the topic is getting further and further away from my original proposal. I'm NOT talking about a fancy user interface with graphics and animations. It's really only about deactivating the options with which a console player cannot do anything. This affects less the settings of the individual cores and pr...

Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
I vehemently agree with the opposition. In fact, I take my view further and hereby support eliminating all backgrounds, menus, update scripts and other niceties. We need to move everything to command line only for the specific purpose of keeping the non-nerds at bay. I oppose all further non-core improvements.

Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
The UI can't get any simpler, it's practically moron proof. How can it get any simpler ? Pick system, press button, profit. Even updating is all done for you, via scripts, you just have to select what type of update you want. Seriously, I knew Feck all about Mister, or Linux. I now know enough to use this, configure it, and do other stuff which in...

Re: Has anyone been able to get Donkey Kong 2 to run?
The roms work fine in HBMAME and MAME, so I’m thinking that the roms are decrypted, but I’m not sure of that.

Has anyone been able to get Donkey Kong 2 to run?
The roms are there (dkongx.zip) and it works in hbmame on the pc, but I haven’t been able to get it to work on MiSTer. I tried making an .mra but it freezes on me at the opening sound. Any suggestions? I think it might be because the original required an add on board, which might require a new/altered DK core for mister.

Re: Feature request: Simplified or "Party mode" UI
Agreed - my comment was unnecessary hyperbole. It would be a greatly appreciated feature. My MiSTers are in arcade cabinets and would benefit greatly from a simple way to change games for guests who would enjoy changing games.
My kids have the interface figured out.

Re: MiSTer vs NeoSD MVS for neogeo
I have two MiSTers, one in a vertical PacMan cab and one in a horizontal Stargate cab. Both are hooked up through Jamma interfaces, J-Pacs, audio amps and original 15kHZ monitors. I just installed the horizontal one the other day because I was so fed up with my NeoGeo MVS and 161-1 combo. Instead of buying the Darksoft cart, I went ahead and did th...

Re: Xinput on JPAC crashes MiSTer
To follow up, I reverted to an older version of the mister software (10/2020) and got everything working. Not sure why the new version crashes it.

I tried the same thing for a while on the BitKit, but switched back to regular DK because I liked to “smoothness” and challenge of the game better. Good luck!

Can you go into the menu and hit reset once the core is loaded? Sometimes mine gets stuck on the black screen and this fixes it.
BTW, I’m really enjoying this core. Thanks to the developer on this!
