Thanks, I've also updated the status of molekula's other core, the MSX1, which I believe is official for quite some time now and was still listed as unofficial.

As a remainder, it's possible to have up to four different MiSTer.ini files: MiSTer.ini, MiSTer_alt_1.ini, MiSTer_alt_2.ini, MiSTer_alt_3.ini and switch between them using the same menu where you change volume.

I believe that XDF and HDM are the same format, so you can try the Python hdm2d88.py program in my sig.

I'm not sure, but it appears to be a Main_MiSTer thing.

Re: ZX Spectrum: Rebuilding boot.com
Amazing research work, JamesH! Thanks a lot for filling in all these blanks.
Nice find about Genie 128, I didn't know that one. I wonder if it's a leftover from a time where it was used to debug the core, and when it stopped being needed, only half of it was replaced with another ROM and the other half remained.

This subforum would be a good place: viewforum.php?f=14
If it passes review, maybe it can become official.
I was always intrigued by that computer, by the way, when I saw it in ads.

Re: ZX Spectrum Recreated Would Work as Bluetooth Keyboard With MiSTer?
I think certain cheats require that. I'd have to look up which ones.
And, well, if it can't pass a keyboard test, it feels less like the original machine. The creators of the Recreated ZX Keyboard considered it important enough as to drive the design of their protocol.

Re: Galaxian Update
Thanks for the detailed explanation, macro! I love these kinds of details.
This looks like one of these cases where FPGAzumSpass' technique of making a software emulator with a view on the FPGA implementation before actually implementing it in Verilog could pay off. The compile/test cycle for trial-and-error would be much faster.

Re: Broken Cores
I don't think so, but you can try the following:
- Upload an existing core with a different name.
- Connect to your MiSTer via ssh.
- Use
diff -qas <path to 1st core> <path to 2nd core>
The last command will tell you whether they differ.

The integer scaling option already cuts the borders a bit, maybe not enough though.

Wow, now I can enjoy this Bandai classic with unprecedented response time and zero lag!
Joking aside, this is awesome. Thanks a lot for this core. I just miss the possibility to disable autosave, because I open the menu often and autosaving every time will cause quite some wear on the SD card.

Re: ZX Spectrum Next's ZX81 Core
It looks like the keys are mapped Spectrum-style, probably by replacing the ROM. For example, shift+ASDFG yields the same STOP NOT STEP TO THEN sequence as in the Speccy, the semicolon is in shift+O instead of shift+X, and so on.
My guess is that they made this to make the keywords and symbols match those printed in the keys of the Next keyboard.
