Re: Getting ready to build my first MISTer - A few Qs

Really fun to read your first impressions, enjoy your MiSTer setup! The 8BitDo Neo Geo pads are great. If the idea of having it randomly displaying all your games for a lot of system cores sounds interesting to you, look into the MiSTer SAM script. It is really fun to have it running in the background. I use it in combination with a TTY2OLED displa...

Re: Genesis Core Interpolation Between Frames?

I know that the Gameboy Advance and Lynx cores have it (I requested three frame blending for the latter one and Robert kindly added it). I would expect it to be possible, unless it is somehow tricky for CRT display oriented systems.

Re: Getting ready to build my first MISTer - A few Qs

The VGA output on the analog I/O board provides 18 bit color, a good VGA converter on the HDMI output provides 24 bit color. However, there are now PWM test cores that use multiplexing to achieve 24 bit color on the analog boards. Still, a good analog converter could potentially achieve better color accuracy. If I'm not misremembering, the digital ...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

Make sure you don't have another old donkeykong rbf file in _arcade/cores on your MiSTer. That is what I had (probably an early test version with updated audio). Hmm... I deleted the rbf file and update_all downloaded the same (old) dkong from 230316 again and installed it. Is it possible, that this is an error because I have the DB9 version from ...

Odd how vsync_adjust=2 doesn't fix it.

vsync_adjust=2 is the least compatible mode (but fastest); 0 is most compatible (but adds more lag).

Ah yes, of course, I might have been sleepy enough to actually enter 2 instead of 0, I'll have to try that again.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

I tested the SNES core and had no problems with it, it never lost sync. I was testing a number of older rbf files yesterday (as well as another HDMI cable, which made no difference) and even the first one of 2021 lost sync occasionally. It seems to be noticably worse in the 2023 and 2024 versions, at times every few seconds and then not at all for...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

Tried the previous version of the core, restored the mister core to the stable version, disconnected my analog output, nothing makes a difference. Really odd, the previous dk core is from quite some time ago, so I should have noticed this problem much earlier. MiSTer SAM is happily running everything else without problems. It sounds similar to my ...

It is is update_all. That's strange... I did two times update_all and I can't find this option to change the sound from samples to emulated sound and back....? Donkey Kong US Set 1 Make sure you don't have another old donkeykong rbf file in _arcade/cores on your MiSTer. That is what I had (probably an early test version with updated audio).

Re: Safe to unplug MiSTer from electrical socket?

I'm using an 'outlet switch power plug' which is a single outlet with a switch, that works better than an inline switch in the low-voltage cable, as that causes a voltage drop.

Like this one, but in black: https://www.kabeldirect.nl/doorvoerstek ... t-wit.html

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

This version sounds really good. Sadly it has sync problems on my iPad monitor now, even with vsync_adjust=2 it keeps losing sync, with a vertical frequency of 60.6Hz (60.7Hz with vsync 2 for some reason). Vsync_adjust=0 used to work fine. Strange. Can/did you try a different version also to confirm it is fine? Maybe something else caused it other...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

In case you missed it, Donkey Kong is back and better than ever! The music is greatly improved with the fixes from schendel's previous unreleased work (he previously provided a separate RBF to test), and there is now an option in the menu core to switch between emulated and sampled analog sound for the walking sound. All of these fixes are now inc...

Re: Preserving Arcade Core High Scores

Ok, I must be dense. :? Robotron is shown to have autosave support for high scores. I don't see any option to enable/disable in the in OSD. If I save settings then high scores are saved, but otherwise high scores are lost. What am I missing? If I'm not misremembering, that was the way highscore saving worked initially. Later on an auto-saving opti...

Yeah, it would need added communication. The emulators are already customized for Groovy support, so who knows, it might be doable. If it only showed the currently playing game in text, it might not be interesting enough. Should be doable with some communication to @psakhis ;) I might make a ticket for it, but hopefully he will be able to get cont...

Re: Many Cores Suddenly Not Working?

Odd that it failed so completely all of a sudden. Have you jiggled the switches on the DE-10? Sometimes they fail to make good contact over time.

The 128MB 3.0 module would be a good choice, older versions apparently have more of a chance to have audio problems with the Saturn core.

Kitrinx develops the 7800/2600 and if I'm not misremembering, wasn't interesting in adding SNAC paddle support.

Support for the Daptor D9 and PDL (recommended to avoid grounding related jitter) is fantastic in that core and works with up to four paddles.
