Re: Mouse Pointer Sticking on Side of Screen for Many Games

This sounds like the old mouse problem which was plaguing this core, eg: https://www.misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?p=34027#p34027 I used to think it has to do with "mouse_throttle=" in the mister.ini, and that setting it to "1" helps, but I think some people said it didn't. Actually, now I seem to recall it might be connected to ...

I plan to use the optical audio out, so I take I can choose the simple version of the adapter and disregard the one with power and audio, right?

Most likely yes, but it's been a long time since I've used this solution and I don't remember the details. Maybe somebody else can chime in.

Re: Direct video HDMI to SCART cable

I've tested Ricardo's previous cable, the one without lightgun, and it was fine. Far as I know, they are based on the AG6200 chip, which, if you read this thread is suppsed to be "some of the worst out there". What that means in practice is that the displayed image might be somewhat darker, which, as you can see me arguing there is not ac...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game

Contemplating a change to the method of distributing the files. Git repo isn't the best for binaries. I use archive.org for all my collection projects. It's not ideal, but allows for the stuff to be findable by general public. They have also improved their uploader/UI in general, so it's now less of a PITA. You can drag and drop files and they wil...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game

I think I read somewhere that Falcon needs FPU? Or maybe requires FPU for certain flight models, while non-FPU operation is also possible. So perhaps it can be tweaked in options? EDIT: The manual says: NOTE: The HF flight model requires a math coprocessor, 80486DX or Pentium to run. If you don’t have a math coprocessor, the game will default to th...

Re: Individually Bootable VHDs for Each Game

Legacy now starts up into gameplay. The problem with EMS is fixed and I had to disable all sound hardware (for now). Will test with different combinations of sound hardware once the soundless build is found to be OK. Do note: you must set your AO486 RAM to 16MB. I did play it briefly and the game seems to run ok. You can load/save, also quit to DO...

The Legacy: Realm of Terror is up for testing. I don't know this game but it seems to start up with 625K of conventional memory and a bunch of EMS configured on PCEm. Can't test on my MiSTer right now because my kid is hogging my TV... gaming.. so who am I to complain right? ;-) Thank you. Tried to run it but there's an error about EMS during boot...

In the mean time I'm also looking for games that are hard to get running in DOS. Things requiring strange drivers, memory management hacks and the like. The Ultimas turned out much simpler to package than I expected. So suggestions are welcome!

Microprose's The Legacy was always a tricky one, I think it requires a lot of conventional memory.

Scratching my own itch, so to say. ;-) Sure, sure, I know all about niche projects. Still, the Sierra pack is reasonably...contained, so to speak. Could save some time. I think I'm ok with my TDC based by-year collections, but will definitely grab all you (and whoever contributes later) can convert too. There's never too many ways to play DOS game...

Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

It's nearly 1K to buy a MiSTer :?: There's a huge amount of gamers that use CRTs and Arcade CABs with the MAME kit, so I absolutely think it should be integrated whenever possible. I'm not sure that number is really "huge", but in any case devs don't owe any obligation to anybody and also your correlation with MiSTer's sales, competition...

MiSTer's grandad namesake - miSTER z80

Yesterday I learned there was actually a micro controller/computer named miSTER before - miSTER Z80/ComPAN. Produced in Poland circa 1985, it started as an industrial real-time controller, but was also used to make microcomputers for office/scientific use. The name derives from Polish phrase "Mikro Sterownik" - meaning a micro controller....

Re: Sanyo VMC-8615FP CCTV monitor with MiSTer Multisystem

I hear what you're saying: I'll assume the StarTech won't be the best but will be fine till I receive one of the purpose built solutions. It might be that for S-Video it will be just as good as the custom one from MisterAddons. I've only used VGA and SCART with my MiSTer Multisystem, not HDMI. These are the settings I use for VGA. These likely rem...

You're referring to RMC Retro here, akeley, the Custard? If so, I just rewatched their video, they say you don't have to change ANY settings in the .ini to use it with either composite or S-Video ... which implies that it does indeed do all the wizardy inside the box? Yes, that's the one I'm referring to. The issue is that to get proper composite ...

hm you may want to tag them they usually respond quickly. my understanding is the processing is done entirely in hardware (zero lag) and does not require special cores or software processing fwiw the manual states it should work with any core that supports 15khz. and you can still output via all other video connectors on board. seems like the answ...

I forgot about that adapter, but I'm not sure if this supports proper composite video (using the Y/C cores). I think I asked them about it once but had no reply. For S-Video it should be ok though.

Re: Sanyo VMC-8615FP CCTV monitor with MiSTer Multisystem

So I'll have to switch to A/C within each individual core that I use? In which case I'll maybe need to have the MiSTer plugged into a HDMI monitor so I can see the screen? Not sure, I've never used it myself. But I think you just have to change from "rgb" to "svideo" in mister.ini, and the cores should auto-detect? vga_mode=rgb...

Re: Sanyo VMC-8615FP CCTV monitor with MiSTer Multisystem

So generic VGA->S-video or SCART-S-video converters on eBay and Amazon aren't worth trying? No, they will either display 480i or have some awful artifacts/quality. There are some more highend models, like Axunworks, which might work well but am not 100% sure they are artifact free on MiSTer. Also bear in mind that not all cores support Y/C (though...

To use S-Video / Composite with MiSTer you will either need to make or buy a separate converter. Some info here, though it's not up to date - there might have been new sellers added since.

Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

Saturn core is work-in-progress, so I'm pretty sure the author had a reason to remove this functionality for now and it will most likely be back in later releases. Far as I know, adding CRT-adjust via some global "script" is impossible, it needs to be implemented on per-core basis and is not trivial (or it would have been done already a l...

PiMiga coming to MiSTer

PiMiga is a fairly popular ready-made Amiga distro for RPi, based on modern-look Amiga OS, and full of assorted bells and whistles, plus the usual set of demos/soft/games/modules/etc. The guy who made it (?) is porting it to MiSTer currently. I'm more of the old-school OS fan myself, but I know this kinda setup has quite a few fans, so if you're in...

Hi, does this runs also on consumer CRT? I can get a stable image using modelines from PC-88 (which in turn were borrowed from ao486) , but it's squashed - even after applying 16:9 ratio. On PC-88 it's the same, but this core has the Aspect Ratio: Full Screen option which helps to alleviate this problem. Try at your own risk: [Zet98] direct_video=...

2. Analogue 3D does not play copyrighted rom files, it plays legacy game cartridges via the cartridge slot

They will block flashcarts? 8-)

3. Analogue 3D is not designed using software emulation. It is designed using a specialty hardware chip called an FPGA, which operates on a transistor level implementation of its functionality.
