If you cannot wait the "real" ZX Spectrum Next Issue 2 Kickstarter campaign launches shortly.

I already own one, so I'm super curious to compare it to @benitoss's core.

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
The core itself seems to run fine for me... I don't think sound works though, unfortunately. Are you running sound through hdmi or the audio jack on the I/o board? It works for me through the audio jack. Try glider. I didn't even think about my audio pathway, haha. I'm using one of the HDMI to VGA adapters. When I start the core, I hear a high pit...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
About the only real issue I had with the Mac Plus (ah - my high school Turbo Pascal days!) was the keyboard input repeat problem...which is an awful shame, because every other bit of the experience was SO spot-on. Knocks vMac into a cocked hat! Agreed, the keyboard repeat issue is a real shame. This core has not been worked on for a couple of year...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
I set up my Mac Plus core over the last few days using the instructions on the core's repo page. There was a lot of trial and error, but here are some hints that will maybe help someone else: 1. The disk image that they link to in the repo is for 6.0.5. If you just follow the default install instructions, you will also need a Disk 2 and Disk 3 (&q...

Re: Apple IIgs core
For me, the IIgs was the high point in Apple design until the arrival of the iMac. Now, instead of wishing for an IIgs, how about taking up the mantle to create one yourself. I have another project started...working from first principles, learning about core development. If you cannot work on it individually, well then, form a small team to get the...

Re: 32-bit cores
Sun OS boots fine, I still must try Solaris. NeXTSTEP seems a bit unstable. BTW I had to boot from the OpenBios command line. I figured out that, at the prompt, you must first select the .raw image before the "O> boot" command. @Grabulosaure this is really good work...helping to push the MiSTer "state-of-the-art" even further fo...

Re: 32-bit cores
@Grabulosaure, I downloaded nx.tar.xz.zip which I assume in the NextStep image. I'm still trying to figure out the password though. Tried various combination "NextStep" - are you able to provide these in the forum, or should I e-mail you directly at info@temlib.org?

This is exciting stuff @Grabulosaure!
I'll try this core shortly and give feedback.

Re: 32-bit cores
Ok, excellent. I missed that.
I'm going to give it a try.
Do you know if those are OS images or virtual disk images?
If it's the OS's - an ISO is available here:

32-bit cores
Hi all, Is it feasible to implement 32-bit cores in MiSTer? I was looking for a way to get NextStep on to MiSTER and came across this project: http://temlib.org/ It's basically an implementation of sparc32 in fpga. From the website: "There is also an unfinished version (complete but with bugs) for an Altera CycloneV GX (Terasic “Cyclone V GX S...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
There are very great games (prince of persia), but keyboard input on current MacPlus core is broken. Keyboard gets stuck, and keys repeat ad-infinitum. It appears that this core has not been worked on for a while. Unfortunately, I'm not an HDL programmer but I suspect that it possibly has something to do with the speed at which the keyboard is sca...

Re: Where's the Speccy love?
Here You have the two screens of configuration photo_2020-06-10_22-54-09.jpg photo_2020-06-10_22-54-19.jpg Everything is working now ( VGA (15 Khz and 31 Khz), HDMI, Keyboard, joysticks, sound , and the second SD or VHD file) unless the 2 MB of memory in SDRAM. All tests done in BRAM (maximum 400 Kb available) are good but the system has not enoug...

Re: Where's the Speccy love?
Need to see what communication channel is used for RPi. If it's UART then MiSTer already provides this communication, so just need to add linux app servicing Next commands. AFAIK RPi is optional feature. It has nothing to do with ZX emulation. Yup, agreed. It is only available on the "accelerated" version of the SpecNext. Just curious to...

Re: Where's the Speccy love?
@benitoss, purely out of curiosity, how do you intend dealing with the specnext wifi module and accelerated functions provided by the Pi? E.g. dot commands that are used to load .TZX files. Similarly, NextSync uses the wifi module to send and receive files to/from the outside world.

Re: Where's the Speccy love?
It sounds like this because it really is not an easy task, it is not a simple port, it is necessary to solve the SRAM problem before. It is what I have heard from a couple of developers, but who knows ... maybe someone will come and solve this problem quickly. The core is also under continuous development and improvement. So, unlike a traditional ...

Re: Where's the Speccy love?
The code is open source and the team is not against ports to other boards. What is not allowed, however, is branding a port as "Spectrum Next" as the brand is being used under license from Sky. SpecNXT would do it :) True...however, changing the Machine ID to SpecNXT potentially creates software compatibility issues. There is a specnext....
