You need to set System to Auto or Gameboy. Custom palettes don't work in Gameboy Color mode because then the Gameboy Color applies its own colors to background and sprites.

Re: Issue Compared to Real Hardware PAL SMS Music at 60Hz, Gameplay at 50Hz
I my have this wrong, but I think an NTSC console modded to PAL runs at a slightly different frequency to a PAL console. Maybe the MiSTer set to PAL is running like a modded NTSC console? Yeah the MiSTer core is currently only using the NTSC clock of 15x3.5795454Mhz = 53.693175Mhz. The SMS PAL clock is 12x4.43361875=53.203425MHz. The core will nee...

Re: Issue Running PAL or EU Roms
If the Amiga core is working properly at 50Hz then your TV might not like the refresh rate of the consoles at 50Hz. They don't output a perfect 50.0Hz.
You can try to set video_mode=9 and vsync_adjust=0. That will make the standard video output 1080p50 which should work. Of course this is not optimal because you will get some stuttering and lag.

Re: MiSTer Freesync and LG CX TVs - Not Possible?
NES 240p Test Suite (PD) v0.21 pinobatch.nes All scrolling tests are perfectly smooth, vertically and horizontally at every speed. Drop shadow test is perfect. It must be the games then. If the scrolling is perfect on the 240p test suite then the TV is not frame skipping. I am assuming the TV is on Game mode with Motion interpolation off. vsync_ad...

Re: MiSTer Freesync and LG CX TVs - Not Possible?
Has anyone figured out a fix to this? I just replaced my old Panasonic plasma with an LG C1 and am having this issue now. The old plasma handled NES/SNES and Neo-Geo refresh rates perfectly. But the LG converts to 60.0 for the NES/SNES and 59.94 for the Neo-Geo. Tried a bunch of things but could not get anywhere. So at this point I assume it's jus...

Re: Issue Running PAL or EU Roms
You need to setup 'video_mode_pal' in MiSTer.ini to a PAL videomode. For example video_mode_pal=9 for 1080p50 or video_mode_pal=7 for 720p50.

Re: Can't understand how to get pixel perfect resolution on my Philips CM8833 CRT
216p - 12 line borders above and below, 216p total. On a 1080p TV, this would give 5x integer scaling, so you can have a clean image with the border filling to the top and bottom. This is the setting I'll use once implemented, I think. That one isn't needed. This core already forces a crop to 216p with a 1080p resolution. https://github.com/MiSTer...

You can try this rbf which has been changed to 60.00Hz. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1438
Vertical flickering means your CRT might not like the refresh rate of the standard NeoGeo core.

Re: Powered USB hub and devices connected to it no longer functioning after update
Nice! So something has changed with auto suspend in kernel version 5. I don't know what else is affected by disabling auto suspend or if it is even needed. If it is not needed then Sorgelig could disable it by default. You can also try to change usbcore.autosuspend=3 or higher to see if longer delay times also fix it. It says here that the default ...

Re: How worth it is MiSTer on a modern TV?
My LCD TV is supposed to have an input lag of around 45-60ms in game mode, so on a 60 Hz refresh that's 2.7 to 3.6 frames. Is that enough latency by itself to kill the idea that I could get a MiSTer, plug it into that TV, and have it feel a lot like my real NES and real SNES did 30-35 years ago? I know I'm not beating Mike Tyson in Punchout withou...

Re: Powered USB hub and devices connected to it no longer functioning after update
If changing loglevel from 4 to 9 makes it work then that indicates a timing issue. The extra logging probably delays something that is normally too fast for the hub.
Try to turn off hub auto suspend with v=loglevel=4 usbcore.autosuspend=-1 in u-boot.txt.

Re: Powered USB hub and devices connected to it no longer functioning after update
Thanks. Strange, it looks like the hub is working correctly on the new kernel. I don't see any disconnection messages. NewLinux.txt shows a Sabrent mass storage device but the dmesg.txt files (Old and New) show no USB devices connected to the hub. Did you disconnect the devices from the USB hub? Can you access the HDD if it's the only device connec...

Re: Powered USB hub and devices connected to it no longer functioning after update
Thanks for the logs. Looks like dmesg didn't keep all the messages because it is incomplete. There is also not much information about what is happening except that the hub is constantly being disconnected . I have compiled new kernels for 4.19 and 5.14 with some extra USB hub debug messages. Extract and rename to zImage_dtb and overwrite the old fi...

I think you just need the s1 file. <file name="251-s1.s1" index="8"/> I found it as kf99n_s1.rom in kof99nd.zip. I couldn't find non encrypted P but 152-p1.p1 & 152-p2.sp2 from kof99ka also work.

Re: Powered USB hub and devices connected to it no longer functioning after update
It would be helpful if someone can provide dmesg logs from the old release when the USB hub was working and the new release where it is not working. Preferably with "v=loglevel=9" in linux/u-boot.txt for debug messages. Run "dmesg > /media/fat/dmesg.txt" from the console on MiSTer or through the Serial connection: https://github...

Re: NeoGeo Art of Fighting, MAME style rom entry problem
The offset in MiSTer xml is the offset into the file (ex. 044-c1.c1) The load address is set by the index. 0x000000 in Mame is index 64, 0x0000001 is index 65, 0x200000 is index 68, 0x200001 is index 69, etc. This is the correct xml: <romset name="aof" pcm="1" altname="Art of Fighting" altnamej="Ryuuko no Ken"...

Re: Change core clock from 59.18 hz to 60 hz
Since there is now a clock switch used in the core you'll have to change it to 60Hz in a different way. There are 2 numbers here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/NeoGeo_MiSTer/blob/44ba7a7d813d80b974c3f62360754ee5fc46935e/neogeo.sv#L373 cfg_data <= sys_mvs_r ? 2576980378 : 2865308404; The first is for MVS and the second for AES. The number for 60Hz...
