Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
The MiSTer comes with busybox that includes chroot. I have a line in /etc/inittab that runs a script which loopback mounts a few disk images before exec into chroot openrc, so I maintain a full gentoo Linux userland on my MiSTer. Various services for the Amiga side (web proxy, telnetd, rshd etc) run inside this chroot, even ssh on port 22 is. On sh...

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
Two years ago when RTG solution was emerging, I suggested just running UAE, and was told that the ARM on the MiSTer is no way fast enough. Hm.

AROS works fine on MiSTer, at least it did 3-4 years ago
Would help to have RTG driver for aros.

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
I wish? People keep saying this, for decades, but where is this “skin”? Besides, look is irrelevant, what matters is functionality - how to operate screens, windows and menus, and only ancient AmiWM is anywhere near the genuine experience.you could just skin Linux to look like the Amiga workbench

And with "they" you mean Michal and Claude? You’d think I knew what I have "patreon" for over the years… but I guess not. “A key point which I’ve made before is that this is a bare metal emulator as opposed to a Linux based one. Which means that all the extra goodies such as SCSI and RTG will need to be re-written to use the har...

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
Core? It’s software emulation, not FPGA with soft cores. musashi runs as a process under Linux and there’s other software on the Linux side that offers services like virtual scsi, networking and framebuffer for RTG. Emu68 is a different beast, it is a bare metal emulator, so no Linux and everything Linux offers. Instead everything must be done from...

All the cumbersome is ok for me, just asking for the source repo of musashi used by pistorm… because I doubt it is the upstream repo - https://github.com/kstenerud/Musashi

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
Emu68k runs on “bare metal” pi, how fit is it to become a process under Linux? The “ordinary” PiStorm emulator Musashi has also improved a lot, just updating the current variant for MiSTer could also be interesting. What was the git repo to this hybrid musashi again?

Re: Dread Doom Clone on MiSTer
I haven't tried on MiSTer, but on MiST it plays just fine with "A1200" type config, I played it through a few times last night and didn't notice any more bugs or glitches on MiST than on the A600 I used earler yesterday.

As a nerdy elitists who nobody should have to interact with in real life, I oppose the idea of dumbing down the front-end even more than it already is. Feel free to add more nerdy elitist options and info instead (ssid, encryption method, ipv6 address..).

I just don’t grasp what it is you want to accomplish - an emulation of old classic amiga sampler? Or to use actual old sampler hardware? If so, where would you plug them in?

Heh, what - Node.js?? No, of course not, I don’t see what node.js is at all relevant here (???). I just use linux’ own notification abilities and cron jobs.

Re: Parallel port: what's needed?
Just curious - where, do you imagine, would the parallel port physically show up? On a USB? On GPIO pins using a breakout board with db25 port? "Inside" Linux, as a device node? Personally I record audio samples on iPhone, save them on a cloud store where a virtual linux host picks them up and downsample/convert them to amiga compatible f...

Re: Running Apollo Core
There are ways the Linux/ARM side can be usefull also without CPU emulation, but rather through interfaces. For example media decoding, faster networking, audio via AHI, even video playback (overlay, pip) and “remote” programs over X11 or RDP.
(Some these can easily be implemented already, using fifo pipes on the shared filesystem)

Re: AmiTCP - AmigaOS 3.2 - PPP
AmTelnet, like most Amiga tcp/ip software, just needs a compatible bsdsocket.library. AmiTCP pretty much defined that standard, and Roadshow comes with its own implementation that follows this standard. Any software that works with AmiTCP also works with Roadshow.

Re: AmiTCP - AmigaOS 3.2 - PPP
Yes, and if you plan to use curses based “TUIs” like midnight commander, you are better off with AmTelnet, since it has its own terminal emulation (well, the mui class term.mcc) which has better ANSI implementation than just Amiga console handler. With command line telnet I’d say using ViNCEd with terminal emulation is a must. And if you just wish ...

You are aware that left and right Amiga keys each have very specific, dedicated functionality? Broadly described, right Amiga key is for program hotkeys, while left Amiga key is for Intuition (the Amiga GUI) hotkeys.

Re: AmiTCP - AmigaOS 3.2 - PPP
I use AmTelnet as well as AmiTCP telnet - with Roadshow, which btw also includes a simple, but extremely useful rsh client.
On the linux side I have a loop back mounted disk image with Gentoo/Linux on, from which OpenRC is ran chrooted on boot (from inittab), with all services I wish (including telnetd, rshd etc).

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation
I read in PiStorm updates about improved Musashi (20-30%)
I suspect the improvements are only in the pistorm git repo, and not gone upstream.
https://github.com/captain-amygdala/pis ... mmits/main
Did anyone build for Minimig_hybrid yet?

New filesystem should work just fine with kickstart 3.0, but you _HAVE_ you install v47 fastfilesystem to RDB on the hard drive, using HDToolBox. This is nothing new, and it is exactly the same way with PFS as well. (I was always puzzled by the expression "works like a charm", as charms don't really work well, scientifically...) To the R...

@foft
What kind of crashes do you see? Freeze? System failure with red alert? If so, what error code? All kinds of icons?
I ask since I don't really see such crashes myself.
EdIt: ah, ok, I see... so it happens when double clicking, regardless of where the pointer is?
Only thing I see here is that the mouse pointer is somewhat jerky and lagging.
