Re: Apple IIgs core

I'd love this, but I'll settle for a finalized Apple //e core :)

Not on the FPGA chip itself, and not running at 800 MHz.
It is much sinpler than what is on the DE10-Nano.

Re: MiSTer Cores on OSSC Pro?

Maybe you can get some MIST cores to run, that doesn't have an ARM either.

Re: MiSTer Cores Ported to MiST

It has already happrened, notably with the SNES core.

MiST has a much smaller FPGA though, so porting some cores like ao486 or Neogeo is impossible.

Re: Original controllers - SNAC vs. USB?

SNAC was mostly added to allow using non-standard controllers (like a lightgun).
For regular controllers USB should work fine.

Re: ao486 wish-list

Is the core able to read the 2nd SD card? Say as a secondary drive?
I wonder it this core could be used to FTP things into it, so we don't have to physically remove it.

Re: Where's the Speccy love?

The current Spectrum core is pretty much perfect for me.

It can run ULA+ games and the Spectrum 2+ upgraded audio, and I think it even supports reading things from tape if you have the ADC input.
What else would it need?

Re: Apple II Core

The issue is not FPGA capacity but lack of interested devs :)

Yes, in general using 128K (so //e and above) is preferred to run most games.
Some Apples could support hard drives, but I don't think any games benefit from it.

I suppose there could be a "MiST thread" for people to discuss it there, as a temporary place

Is there a way to make the wallpapers cycle from inside the core?
Kind of like F1 but for what's inside /wallpapers/?

Re: New to MiSTer, What are the limits?

Anything 2D is probably possible given a motivated developer. Number of processors / chips on a game is not an issue, assuming there is enough memory bandwidth and space in the FPGA to describe the logic.

Apple II Core

I realized MiST has two different Apple II cores (II+ and //e). Our MiSTer core is a port of the //e version, but are there differences between these three cores? I know MiSTer has added the ability to load .dsk, .do and .po files, which is amazing (no more fiddling with the old .nib converter!). The one big item missing would be disk write support...

Re: ao486 wish-list

Do "booter" games work with the current core? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PC_booter_games
If not - maybe a special mode (or separate core) could be made just for these, since it would only need a subset of functionality for general DOS support.

Re: Tandy 1000

Is there a list of games specific to Tandy 1000 that won't run elsewhere?

I wonder if it would be enough for the ao486 core have special Tandy features (e.g. enhanced video mode),
or the games do need a 8088 CPU, maybe the PC88 core can run them instead?

Another vote for Sandisk Ultras, they're easy to find and they worked well for me over the years.
