Re: Atari 7800 Core

12characters wrote: Sun Apr 18, 2021 2:54 pm It says that 2600 is not yet enabled, which hints that it is a planned feature. Considering that there is already a standalone Atari 2600 core, what would be the advantage of enabling the backwards compatibility for the 7800 core?
The current 2600 core has issues. The potential here would be to have a more accurate 2600.

Re: Why not use a package manager?

Not sure if I'm missing something, but one reason for the third-party update_all script is to separate out handling of intellectual property from the standard update process. If the end user is still going to need to run a script to handle that part, and then also deal with a package manager, I think you will see people sticking with the script met...

Re: Intellivision Core (INTV)

Not sure if you are referring to Intellivoice specifically, but there are definitely sound issues in general with this core that have always been there (Astrosmash is a good example where this is immediately obvious).

Otherwise, the core is spot on as far as I can tell.

The fixed version removes a bug/cheat that allowed a player to get 255 lives on the first screen.

Most times on Donkey Kong, when I reboot, come back later and the new high scores are gone.

Re: Learning path for FPGA

Most beginner books don't spend even a moment introducing these concepts, which is why a proper course-like textbook is useful. Unfortunately, most are written for Xilinx FPGAs... and while the skills are transferrable, the boards they suggest to use are in the $300 range... plus the book itself. The strange thing is, we keep hearing that the DE-1...

I was thinking about using a regular joystick or gamepad, along with an Atari 2600 touchpad via USB adapter (since it has the same layout and number of buttons as the Intellivision controller). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible to c...

Re: In-line power switch

Searching "brownout electronics damage" might provide some more info on undervoltage conditions. For example, I found this regarding PSUs: "In a brownout, power supplies need to draw more current to compensate for the lower supply voltage, which is very stressful for transistors, wires, diodes, etc. They also become less efficient, w...

Yes, or The Ninja Warriors

Since the screen is a touchscreen though, it would be cool to have custom keyboard setups with relevant buttons or command shortcuts for different cores. Could connect it to a small maker board acting as a keyboard inside, alongside the MiSTer.

Re: How do you map 'c' and 'z' on 6 button Genesis controller

You just need to map these in the relevant cores directly.

You can properly map a 6-button controller in the Mega Drive / Mega CD cores for example; you'll be prompted for C & Z.

By creating an entry in mister.ini the same way you would for console cores.

Look in the config folder for the internal core names.

These are wireless controllers and are subject to interference, both BT and 2.4 Ghz. Depending on your environment, your results may vary.

(Incidentally, interference comes not only from network devices, but also microwaves, lighting, phones, etc.)
