Re: Mega65-MiSTer
Hmm, seems like any new software would probably be written for the fastest clocking, so the Mister's version would probably be considered drastically inferior. :( I'm not so sure about that. Remember, that there are only 1500 MEGA65 so far. The user base on MiSTer would be much bigger and probably hard to ignore. Ironically the MISTER version coul...

Re: Vampire V4 core for MiSTer Real?
Wont happen.. Apollo core is private/closed source .. they have no interest in porting it to any other platform. This is an obvious fakery .. even Gunnar himself called it an "april fools" by someone so what does that tell you.. its garbage..

Ah wonderful, I think you will find this project far more challenging and interesting as folks have said trying to port it to MISTER would be complicated but I think you are fully up to this challenge, I look forward to watching your progress!

Re: Coleco Adam Core?
still stand by what I say, eventually someone WILL come out with an open core and it will become part of the mister mainline source.. its not really "if" so much as "when" now given the sheer number of other platforms and systems already in the mainline and/or being worked on in the pipeline. Well that didn't take as long as I ...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?
if you care about speed, emulation is getting faster as new pcs come, and the FPGA won’t help your io keep up. Well thats just it though.. it really depends on whats important for you .. and specifically you .. (it will vary depending on who you ask).. FPGA can help you with an accurate re-creation as it can work in true parallel, something softwar...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?
I guess the question is: what will a 68040 MiniMig (or hybrid arm minimig for that matter) give me that WinUAE will not? you dont need a PC to run it. I get it. “It’s a native cpu”. But really it isn’t. Actually it is, the CPU is created within the logic gates of the FPGA and it is, for all purposes a CPU .. its just in reprogrammable silicon rath...

Re: Core Request: IBM PS/1
I worked on this computer back in the days at an insurance office, it was not the best computer on which I worked but it had something special, unique and it was an IBM :-) I was selling computers in a mom and pop store and we got in the PS/1 to sell.. the repair shop guy and I set it up on display in the main part of the store, powered it on, and...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?
the Vampire 4 does have all the video out on the HDMI of the vampire, and the audio output is there as well. That should give some more freedom to do stuff like an overlay FPGA menu and such. But again, while its possible, it needs someone to develop it. When pressed on this idea of doing a mister like overlay to configure the vampire, Gunnar seem...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?
No reason? Please do speak for yourself when you express such sweeping qualifications as fact. Apart from big box Amiga, there are Macs and Atari systems that would be brought much closer to a MiSTer implementation with a fully featured 68030 or 68040, preferably at realistic period appropriate speeds.. but that's just my take. Agree 100%.. and ev...

Re: Amiga 68030/40?
the Vampire cards does not have an ARM component, I am not sure it will ever be easy to swap out. No need for ARM, there’s the FPGA and it can run another 68k core for the Minimig firmware, take care of I/O, menus etc. This is how it works on the TC64 already :) Fwiw the Vampires 080 core is multi threaded already .. just the OTHER thread is reser...

Re: Coleco Adam Core?
Is this not how it works? Develop a better version that you can sell cheaper or give away. Yea but his private "better" version is falling behind in terms of features, compatibility and frankly recognition.. its rapidly getting to the point where no one will want to run it since it slowly breaking from all the changes to the mister base ...

Re: Coleco Adam Core?
Pity .. But like the Taylor's TRS8 Coco3 de-10 core that first came out .. it was also not released, stayed closed source and was only later available if you payed for it via being a paid patron, and while it was great for a short while, someone else has just released an alternative open TRS80 Coco3 core and that now will be the one people talk abo...

Re: Converting a Core into Real Hardware
Well if you got about $500K - 1 million+ USD you might be able to run a few hundred thousand ASIC chips from your FPGA core (these are of course minimums in terms of cost and run numbers) .. but I dont know anyone who has that kind of spare cash just at the ready, plus you have to of course find a chip fab company that will partner with you etc.. ...

Re: Possible to simulate NTSC dot crawl via filters?
It might be do-able with external hardware "ala those external scanline generators" you would see prior to them being generated by the mister itself, .. I dont know of any such devices right now but I can't see any technical reason one couldnt be created along the same lines as the external pass-thru scanline generators but do dot-crawl t...

Re: SyncThing
Excellent thank you!
Re: SyncThing
I typically start syncthing under a script custom as needed. I find it can affect performance of the linux side of things and strange things can happen. I also don't use it to sync roms as it can take hours just to scan everything to look for changes let alone transfer them. Roms don't change very often and I typically use FreeFileSync to sync the...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup
Besides that aspect, im referring to the coding side of it.. I've found Flash to be pretty similar, and ported some of my Hypercard games to it. (before that, Macromedia Director was the closest thing to it) Nowadays though, I suppose it might be better to use one of the Haxe frameworks (HaxeFlixel or Heaps) Yea I would tend to agree, I did a lot ...

I'm working on a new update with some additional Hypercard stacks, hopefully to be released before the end of the year. I loved hypercard as well .. it just makes me sad there is really no modern version of it now .. to think what it COULD HAVE ev...
