Re: TI-994a How-To
You can't compare a NES core, to the TI-99 core, completely different systems. The NES was a straight-forward console, plug-in a cart, plug-in a controller, switch on, play game. The Ti-99 range were computers, and very qwerky machines to use. And even though they had a cartridge range, they were not often easy to get up and running. It had non-sta...

Here is a link to some of those demos
https://demozoo.org/platforms/16/
Got to say, some superb stuff, there. Really pushing what these old Atari 8-bit machines can do. If I get any working on my Mister, I will post back.

Re: Recommended "Silent" Joystick?
arcadeworlduk has been my go-to for oh so many years in the past... He's a top bloke. I use him on eBay, and often I want some help/advice, rather than buy something, and he always gives me straight answers. I asked him for advice on building my own arcade stick, with a spinner, and trackball, and flight stick all on one single player arcade stick...

Re: Recommended "Silent" Joystick?
This would be good. https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/leaf-switch-ball-top-arcade-joystick.html But it would require a case to put in, alongside buttons of your choice, and a controller board. Failing that, are there any leaf-switch modern USB joysticks out there ? You could, if this is possible, replace the microswitches in your USB speedlink...

Re: NTSC 1084 Monitor
This link might also help. https://dfarq.homeip.net/commodore-1084-monitor/ Philips released their own variation of this monitor, the CM8833 Mark 1 and Mark II - which is a similar version to the 1084-P1, minus s-video. I know both the Philips PAL models can do NTSC, as long as you use RGB. Not sure about the other way around, but wouldn't surprise...

Re: "MiSTer Community Plays" Events
Yep, agree with both posts above. The 3 game limit would be a good starter, it would allow for a tighter, more thought-through list, and less filler. I also think that a list of cores with their real names, so we all know we're all on the same core, what BIOSes are/if required, and the exact name of the roms (games) you want to put forward. Perhaps...

Re: "MiSTer Community Plays" Events
I think it would be kind of confusing to have two different games of the month, one existing on twitter, discord, and the world at large and the other here. Maybe we can just post what was voted upon on twitter, and there can be some crosstalk here. I know you don't like twitter, I don't like it either, but it's very hard to communicate if you won...

Re: "MiSTer Community Plays" Events
Perhaps, we need to ask Xbytez for that sub forum ? Then, have a test run, to see how it pans out. Start with an easy-to-use system, then an easy accessible game, and go from there. Personally, I don't think we should put long games in the hat, games such as sim city, or civilisation, or indeed most strategy, or long rpg games such as the Zelda ser...

Re: "MiSTer Community Plays" Events
Well, I'm 53, so imagine what my reflexes are like, lol. To be fair, I do see myself as a better gamer today, than I was in the 80s. I couldn't see my 80s self coping with modern PC gaming, or modern console games. I also give games more of a chance, than I did back then. Back then, I used to get bored really quickly, and want to move onto so...

The 2600dapter-D9 sounds like a good solution.
Problem for me is, nobody in the UK are selling one, so I would need to take my chances with US to UK delivery.

Re: "MiSTer Community Plays" Events
Sure, this is not a problem, I am happy to setup a dedicated sub forum for this type of activity. If those users who wish to start this brainstorm an outline and flesh this out further. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. It then keeps the discussion out of sub forums, where it's more for cores. PistolsAtDawn , some good ideas there. The rotation ...

I wouldn't know where to start :) Perhaps have systems without save-state support, so no chance at, ahem...using them ;) What would be a preference for system ? 8-bit, or 16-bit ? Arcade ? There are thousands of hidden gems out there, most of us have probably never heard of, so would love to get some unknown games. I suppose, to get the ball rollin...

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. I don't like Discord or their terms of service, so I avoid it unless it's my only method of contacting someone. Totally agree. Last year, I joined Discord for some PC mods, mostly ENB, Reshade, texture mods. I was a member for 2 weeks when I suddenly got a message from "Discord". The message was basically a so...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Looking cleaner doesn't bother me, I grew up with RF, Composite, and SCART. I even had a black and white CRT TV 12" for my ZX81, and that looked crap. What bothers me, are games that were meant for a specific controller just suck playing on anything else, especially something modern. This core is good, but it's more good for 7800, a lot of 260...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600
Just a thought but, wouldn't it be a better option to split the core into two cores, 2600, and 7800 ? Or, back-port any progress in this core, to the older core with working SNAC + Paddles ? That way, all future fixes, and options can be focused in the 2600 core, without affecting the 7800 part. At the moment, this core doesn't offer me anything ov...

Re: SNAC vs BlisSTer vs Deamonbite
MiSTerAddons sells his SNAC adapter in a case now. Mine is a first run before he started doing that that so mine is bare but it still came with the short extension that's not going to put a lot of pressure on the User IO port. So it's possible to get a SNAC solution that is protected and safe. Thanks for that info, I didn't know that. Off to have ...

Re: SNAC vs BlisSTer vs Deamonbite
Cost should also come into this. For example, all 7 SNAC adapters + SNAC USB Adapter = £64. Whereas, just 5 single-player DaemonBite adapters = £86 (converted from 99.50 euro). Should anyone want multi-player DaemonBite adapters, then you are looking at 33 Euro to 47 Euro, each. Another negative for SNAC, is the fact that none of the adapters come ...

Re: Anyone here into VR?
Not everybody can bother to install ceiling pulleys, I certainly won't do that. My HP Reverb 2 has one single cable and I don't mind it anyway, and I'd rather have a cable than play wireless with less quality. However, for some applications that aren't that demanding, being able to use it wirelessly, or even without using a PC at all, may be worth...

Re: Anyone here into VR?
Tethering only comes into play if you take your VR out of the house, or into another room. If you VR game using a PC then you will be tied to that PC, and wireless doesn't come into play if you hang your cables from ceiling pulleys. I hang my cables on VR pulleys and wires no longer get in the way, it feels like a wireless headset with minimum head...

Re: Anyone here into VR?
I have a Reverb G2 revision 2 - the one with the newer face gasket, and USB cable. I love its clarity, one of the best screens, and resolution of its price point. The high resolution screens do need a very good GPU, something like a RTX 2070 as a starting point, I have a RTX 3080, and it's still not enough for full resolution (2160x2160p) in some V...

Re: CRT vs. LCD "Disadvantage of CRT with Cores"
They're supposed to look exactly the same. I know, I 100% agree. My point was, if it looks the same as emulation on your PC then, in my opinion, you might well have just stuck with your PC. I don't see any benefit from using a display device that wasn't meant for these old games, they just look wrong. But, I also appreciate that CRT isn't for ever...

You might be able to get some good info from the MESS/MAME emulators, I think they're now merged - I only use the arcade part of MAME, so not 100% sure. It has some good documentation, and some good history from those early systems - you might need the "History.xml" file from arcade history website, or Mameworld. I can help in some way, p...

Re: Games Consoles Not On MiSTer And Their Viability (A Discussion)
Excellent list. Now do the same for computer systems, that isn't an easy task as it covers a huge, world-wide, list of systems. Lastly, just a nit-pick, the Aquarius is a computer system, not a console. It didn't share anything with the Intellivision - you couldn't use intellivision carts, or peripherals. I have two Aquarius systems here, they were...

Re: CRT vs. LCD "Disadvantage of CRT with Cores"
The Mister project might have been designed around HDMI, the games you play on Mister definitely were NOT designed for HDMI displays, they were designed for CRT. I tried my 1440p PC HDR Monitor, and was left cold, and feeling like the energy, and alive-feeling of CRTs had been stripped away, and all that was left was a cold lifeless display that di...

Re: Crazy Otto core?
As far as I know, no known official GCC rom has ever been dumped. Only 3 PCB's were ever converted before it got changed to Ms Pacman, so chances of getting it that way are low. however one of the programmers has a copy of the development disk so that is knocking around and does have sufficient code to create a working version of the game. (and an...

Re: Crazy Otto core?
All the Crazy Otto versions out there are fan-made projects, not official leaks of the rom. As far as I know, no known official GCC rom has ever been dumped, so what we have in MAME is a fan-made approximation, not the actual code. Personally, I would love to get an official leak of the actual rom, because it's a missing piece of arcade history tha...
