External MIDI sound modules and sound

Unread post by Mellified »

This will be of interest for those using external sound modules like the MT-32 and/or SC-55 with the MiSTer and HDMI audio.

This gadget allows stripping the audio off of the HDMI out of the MiSTer and sending it via 3.5mm. Then you can mix it externally with the sound module audio. Send the audio out of the mixer back into this gadget and it injects it back onto the HDMI. Possible to do other ways, but nice to have it all in one device.

I use the PiMidi, and it has the nice feature of just sending the audio back to the MiSTer. Its a special setting, by default it has its own audio output. Just in case anyone had missed this feature on the PiMidi.

But this is still interesting. Especially since there are also devices like the Vampire where you only have HDMI out, so you end up needing this if you want a regular 3.5mm audio out, but also makes sense if you are using a real original MT-32 with the MiSTer of course.
