Looking for a New Monitor/TV for my MiSTer

Unread post by Lostone98 »

Hello everyone I am looking for a new screen to play PSX, SNES, NES, Amiga and DOS.

I am looking at a
ASUS ProArt PA278CV 27 or a

LG UltraGear 27GL850

Which one would be better or are they overkill for what they are for?

What would you suggest.

Regards

I'm in exactly the same boat so this topic is perfect timing. Also looking at 27 inch 1440p monitors. From what I have looked into so far, the LG has far lower input lag although it is not quite as impressive at 60hz.

I was really interested in the LG OLED at 0.03ms response time (12ms at 60hz) and 9.5ms input lag (at 60hz) until I saw the price tag. LG 27GR95QE

Two others I have short listed (mainly based on low input lag) are

Dell Alienware AW2723DF
Gigabyte M27Q X

I took a gamble and got a KOORUI 27 Inch Gaming Monitor, 2K Computer Monitors, QHD(2560 * 1440), IPS,1ms, FreeSync & G-Sync Compatible, 2x HDMI (It's so easy to return stuff to Amazon in the UK now, I wouldn't even have to lug it to the post office).

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BZ3PN9MJ

I was expecting the worse, but the gamble paid off. I'm very pleased with it. I'm not sure how accurate the rest of the specs are, but it does appear to be an IPS panel, all the PAL stuff I play scrolls silky smooth and I have yet to find a rate it wont sync to on the Mister.

In my opinion it isn't even close. Oled has way better response times. But it's more expensive. Whether it is worth the cost is personal preference.

Ok I'm going to save, where's the best place to buy it from? Amazon has it for £850. Thank you Btw 🙏

Bear in mind that you would be paying a lot of money for something that still doesn’t come close to CRT. Plus at 60hz the gains are smaller so it’s a lot of money.

I bought this one a few years back (in the 1.2 version, don't know whats different in 1.3)

https://www.amazon.de/Aryond-A32-V1-3-R ... B0BL3CGHVV

Pretty happy, a fast panel (configurable), GSync/Freesync and HDR. Looks great with my MiSTer and accepts all refresh rates.

Ummm I'm conflicted. A good size CRT are heavy and big, we had two good ones but a long broken lol

I connected everything to these speakers, enough bass to make the arcade cores sound good and the volume dial with its long cable is godsend.

The manufacturer at least has a UK website:
