I wonder if MegaAGS for Pocket could be split up into 3 games hdf, 4GB each, plus the one hdf for saves, to get more games on Pocket. I know there’s the 4GB hdf limit on Pocket but it does allow mounting 4 hdf simultaneously. 3 separate hdf would give 12 GB for games. It might be enough for all the games.

Yes, we did experiment with a configuration that splits things across multiple 4GB HDFs. The main issue is that to have more than 2 HDFs, you need to introduce IDEFix97 or AtapiMagic to get support for 4 drives, and we ran into some compatibility issues.

So we decided to not go in that direction for now, but rather be very receptive to what people want added to the Pocket configuration setup. 4GB is enough to cover most games and demos of any importance, and there’s also a possibility that the Pocket will get LBA48 addressing in the future, which would make this a non-issue. For now, we try to make the Pocket configuration produce an HDF that is under 4GB.

Currently some games are sorely missing from the Pocket version such as Marvin’s Marvelous Adventures.

File an issue here, and we’ll add those to the configuration for the Pocket:

Yours is the first report we have seen so far (and I know we have people using it on CD32), so I’d unfortunately suspect your card or card reader. Are there any modern SD-based card solutions for the CD32?

What is the best Mister.ini settings for MegaAGS on the iPad. Running Switchblade II from the launcher crops the screen so I can't see the energy or weapons bar, but exiting the launcher and switching to PAL and running it from workbench is fine.

I assume you mean using MiSTer with an iPad display? The Dynamic Crop feature should not affect anything that isn’t a 16:9 screen, so that seems weird.

I checked the database, and it is correctly configured for PAL, which was my other guess as to why you might be seeing a partial image.

File an issue with as much detail about your setup as possible here, and we’ll take a look at it:

We are happy to announce that the latest release of AmigaVision/MegaAGS is available!

AmigaVision is the ultimate, open source Amiga setup for MiSTer and
Analogue Pocket FPGAs, emulators, and real hardware.

This is a very minor update to the recent major [2023.06.06 release] that focuses on improving reliability of loading thumbnail previews in the game/demo launcher, as well as some updates to WHDLoad configurations.

  • More reliable loading of thumbnail previews in the launcher when returning from a previously loaded game or demo. This was especially noticable in the cut

Great job and congrats, syr have been a bit out of the loop lately, would be possible or are there guides on how to add an hdf to this collection ? I remember doing something a year ago from WB.

I was looking at replacing/adding Swos 2020 from www.sensiblesoccer.de.

Thanks!

Hi,
When I use the Amiga 500 MegaAGS Core for Amiga Vision. I am unable to back out and select floppies from my ext hdd?
You can see there is no parent (Two dots) above _Arcade

When i use my normal Amiga Core and boot into A500 mode i can select floppies from external, by going to parent

Would you happen to know why this is?

BTW im using version AmigaVision-MegaAGS-2023.07.17 on my mister fpga

This looks like a bug in the MiSTer framework if that’s how it’s supposed to work? I don’t use external storage, so I don’t have the context to know if this is normal in other cores.

Very strange, The Amiga MegaAGS core works fine using ext hdd, and my existing amiga core. yet this amiga 500 wont do it.. it wont show the last two dots to go back to root of mister to be able to select usb hdd.

on the other hand..
Can I ask you about some games running too fast.. Xenon 2, Buggy Boy, Killing Game Show, Stunt Car, Killing Game Show all seem to run too fast..

Like its forced at 14hz instead of 7hz

Is there a way to fix this and make the game run at normal iintended speed?

Try Xenon 2 and watch teh intro you will see how fast its going...

Buggy Boy has the option to drop to 6 fps, but megaAGS seems to force this 14hz mode, and game runs too fast on my mister?

Any Ideas?

Hit the TAB key on your keyboard or the tertiary button on your controller/joystick, as explained in the Favorites section.

AFAIK some games have always had this problem when loaded via WHDLoad with a very fast CPU. If I notice such problems, I just load the game from .adf floppy using a standard Amiga 500 config.

However, I just tested in Amigavision 20230717, and Killing Game Show runs at the correct speed for me. Are you sure it is too fast on your system? Did you maybe accidentally enable D-Cache in OSD->System?

Just a quick reminder that the team behind the AmigaVision setup script is unrelated to what’s on archive.org.

We link to an archive.org search term for your convenience, but whatever is found on the site is controlled by the person that has uploaded it there.

I'm more concerned about who targeted it (and why). I have my suspicions, but that wouldn't bode well at all.

One way to go around this is to distribute only the files on a hdd image without the OS. That's what I did with my collection and it's still up on the archive, touch wood (though it's much less known too). I believe you could set it up so that the frontend is still there, only that the user needs to have their own primary hdd image with the OS on it.

It kinda says a lot about the messed up world of Amiga, in which nobody will bat an eyelid at distributing thousands of old games, but one kickstart file can get you in hot water.

EDIT: it could also be some other reason. Assorted TOSECs (which have KS files) and older MegaAGS images are still there.

yeah that would be my guess, oddly Cloanto still like to promote they own the C64 roms when they dont.
