Bug? Metal slug

Unread post by jfml1974 »

I don't know if it's my problem but I noticed that in metal slug there is a box on each side or maybe it's a black strip that isn't complete..? It only appears in the first version of metal Image

That's not a bug. Metal Slug 1 does not use full horizontal resolution for its gameplay area and attempts to mask screen edges, not quite reaching the full height. I believe that Neo Geo core has a setting to crop the image to a narrower resolution properly if that bothers you.

Thanks, although it could be a mistake... I found it very strange. If there is an option 3..px

Here's a list which Neo Geo Games used 304 horizontal and which ones the full 320 horizontal. The Metal Slug series was always in 304, so just set it accordingly in the Core video settings.

I own an MVS 2-slot. What you are viewing with m-slug is normal. Without manual adjustments to the monitor, or using software to crop, many geogeo games have "garbage" on the sides.

How to software crop on real hardware ?

I own the AES System and i adjust my PVM and Panasonic Monitors that way that
i open the CRT case and stretch the height an width minimal. There are some
adjustment screws on the PCB Same for some shmup PCB. Works absolutly best
but be aware ... to open a CRT Monitor and not knowing where to touch and
where not can be very dangerous. So first studdy some vids before doing this.
And not every CRT PCB do have this screws. Some TV do have the software
option like Löwe or B&O.

And for these above vertical line problems... There are a way to fix this.
Im not sure if it works for every serial nr but i know a shop in germany who
can fix this line problems. He is doing this for alot of consoles....a long time

Cheers

im afraid your path ends here ... Jago

On real hardware, you crop it via remote board that attaches to the crt chassis. Find a happy medium between all games.

Many tvs in the USA required a technician to enter the Konami code into the TV remote to make geometry and color adjustments. Ridiculous. Those TV remotes were cheap Chinese garbage that always broke anyways.
