Hi there,

I'm looking for a 24" (not curved) monitor with the following specs, if one exists

- still in production/available
- 1440p
- 1920 X 1440p compatible (4:3) without screen stretching
- works with 50hz natively (no stuttering with Amiga games)
- can handle weird frequencies with no stuttering
- can handle 1920 X 1440p @ 50hz
- bonus: monitor stand can turn vertically
- bonus: in built speakers

Problem is, most of the WQHD panels on the market today won't handle 50hz @ 1920x1440 without having a driver to enforce that.

For example my monitor (old ASUS PG278 series), can happily be set to the above profile inside Win10, but cannot do that "on its own" connected directly to the Nano board.

You're better off setting the .ini to 720p and then integer scaling up (as 1440:720= a clean 2)

[Edit] Speaking of "weird frequencies", don't get misled by "freesync", or "G-sync" capabilities, as these also need a driver to activate.

Just found about the following monitor. Seems it does integer scaling automatically!

Nice. Still needs a driver implemented inside the linux distro MiSTer is running on to be of any use

What I meant is that you could output 720p from MiSTer and then let the monitor itself to integer scale *2 for 1440p.

Of course, every monitor does this for better or worse Problem is, they don't (mostly and commercially) have 50Hz as a native "preset" that can be set outside an OS without a specific driver implemented

Listen, I'm running an 1440p monitor with the MiSTer, till I receive a VGA to SCART cable I've on order to be used on a couple of CRTs scattered around my place ,but to be honest right now, 1080p @ 60Hz does the job universaly without artifacts or significant lag, plus it does tate!

Oh, and I can switch between the MiSTer and PC running at the same time with the click of a button (between HDMI and Display port I mean)

I was looking at 1440p because 240p fits perfectly with no borders

My Acer SB220Q does freesync natively with no drivers required with my MiSTer.

yep, 1440p is the "golden rule" of resolutions re: ye olde 240p output. However, current manufacturers don't have retro gaming enthusiasts in mind, nor the MiSTer in particular, so making a contemporary panel to actually *work* is always a pain.

Have you tried any PAL core with it?

Yes - played several Euro Megadrive games in PAL mode, and the monitor itself reported 50fps and showed zero tearing. It also handled some arcade cores that didn't work on my NTSC CRT (Lunar Lander? Can't recall. I posted about it a while back actually...)

Nevermind it is only 1080p

My monitors do it so far, but bigger than 24", maybe interesting for others nevertheless:
o BenQ EW3270ZL
o LG Ultragear 34GN850-B (yeah it's a 21:9 with G-Sync compatible certified and variable refresh rate)
