ntt wrote: Sat Oct 15, 2022 10:41 pm At a minimum these SDRAM boards would appear to be functionally equivalent to the v2.9 ones I have in an older mister of mine, now I'm curious to learn how the v3.0 boards were born and what differences they have -if any - compared to the official v2.9

PS: sorry about the off-topic, this discussion is about Saturn cores not SDRAM HW details...
Yes, fair enough - I'm curious as well. I think it would have been fine for them to be labelled as "2.9-(variant)" or something like that, it's just the "3.0" that is catching my attention.

The v3.0 was produced by Sorg and it's the same as 2.9 but just with all IC on top of board to make the production simpler. v2.10 don't sounds good. I think it will be officially released :)

Today have made some tests and in one of my MiSTer the v2.9 freeze in Radiant Silvergun. Daytona USA has the same issue. We should patiently wait and trust in Sergey like we done before. Some years ago I ship to him a free DE10nano, later, PCengine CD stuff and few months later we had perfect cores. Keep up good work.

Ricardo

NOTE:
Radiant Silvergun - Have tested with same rams in a different DE10nano and works perfectly with all memory modules any version (including mixed versions). First DE10nano freeze, second works.

Just a question guys. Darius Gaiden has no sound effects for me (Single Ram) but I've noticed there was sound on a Youtube video I watched. Is that due to the single vs dual ram set up?

I use the single RAM version and sound straight up disappears randomly from time to time. No Red Book audio, no sound effects, nothing. Safe to say, the sound hardware is not finished yet to produce stable test results.

Sound should work for single and dual SDRAM configurations, when using the latest core version; sound volume lower than usual, perhaps.
At the start of the game there's the OPTION menu, where you can test sounds

Have you made sure you have a bios in the right place? I am not sure if updateall does that.

I do get sound as in music - I just don't get weapon sound effects for this game. I watched a Youtube video and it seems the same for someone else so I believe it may just be the core (they seem muffled more so).

Just remember you also need a GitHub account to actually be able to download the .rbf

https://github.com/SwedishGojira/MiSTer-scripts

If you use this script on your MiSTer it will fetch the newest build for you. Much better than manually downloading and copying to the micro SD card.

@SwedishGojira - Your script is much appreciated! Thank you!

Agreed, sadly it is not obvious as GitHub gives no error or notification you need to register an account to download the .rbf file shown on the page.

Unregistered GitHub visitors just see the .rbf build filename that they are unable to download, I have already talked a number of forum members through this who did not realize.
