MiSTer USB Boot (SSD) capabilities

Hi friends,
Sorry if this has been answered. Is MiSTer - or could be - capable to boot from USB, so we could get rid of the SD and have a more stable drive for all the system (including roms, cores, OS/linux, etc.).
Just as a reference, I think that using the last Pi4 firmware is possible, but no from the previous Pis. So must be some hard limitations that could apply to MiSTER (or luckily not).
