Panel mount right angle HDMI

Hi everyone,

I am working on a case for my MiSTer and bought a right angle hdmi panel mount cable on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GSKM94T/

Unfortunately I am getting no signal with this cable on the TV I am hoping to use it on. If I use the cable on a gaming console it works fine. It does actually work on one of my televisions with the MiSTer as intended, but not the others.

I’ve tried editing the settings in the ini but no luck. I also reset the settings for the tv I have the problem with and that also didn’t work. Lastly I tried 4 different hdmi cables and all the hdmi ports on the tv. I saw another post from earlier this year regarding this issue and it was suggested to purchase one of these from adafruit. I only found a straight plug panel mount hdmi and with this project I need a right angle mount. Space is very tight as I am mounting this all in an older cable modem housing.

Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry if making a new post about this matter is frowned upon.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this!

I used one of these in my case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DHJSSCL/

That particular one is out of stock but you can probably find other equivalent ones. They have different ribbon lengths as well. I used hot glue and cut the hole near the bottom of the case. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this suggestion, thorr! I think this looks like a great solution to my problem. I’m going to try a few more things with the cable I purchased first but if all else fails I’ll order one of these.

If I find a solution to using the current cable I’ll post it here!

Just a small update. I was unsuccessful in getting the cable I originally purchased to work. I went back to Adafruit and they actually sell the individual pieces for HDMI male and female connectors and ribbon cables similar to what thorr suggested above. I bought the 3 pieces I needed and will chime in if all went all. Below are the links to what I purchased in case anyone in the future comes across this post and needs help.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to post my results in case anyone in the future may find this and need help. I received the parts from Adafruit and they worked perfectly. I was about to mount just those pieces when I took a moment first to try something. I had already stupidly mounted the amazon cable with screws and hated having to remove it, so I hooked up the adafruit cabling to my MiSTer and then attached the Amazon panel mount cable to that, THEN I attached my HDMI cable to that and into my TV... and it WORKED! For SOME REASON that worked. So I just tied it all up neatly in this current box for now and will use only the adafruit cable when I put together it's more final home, a mini ITX case.

Thanks again!
