Status of Sega Pico Core?

Whatever happened to the Sega Pico Core (originally from Shane Lynch)? Those of us with children in our families might enjoy showing them the games.
Was it ever finished? I think it borrowed light-gun/mouse support to work as the pen. I don't know how the booklet parts would work unless each were scanned in and a dual screen or overlay would be toggled to select the portion that determines where the game directs to.

Sure, the tactical feel and motor-skill practice of the original console for pre-schoolers is much of the charm with pastel plastics, but I love preservation.

I think the lack of the book segment keep the core from becoming released to the public.

The core was made, as you can see in this video

And yes it uses a mouse to simulate the Pen.
The Sega Pico was based on Genesis hardware, so there not that much work that had to be done.

Pezz82 is awesome. I wish he'd make more videos.

As for the core, I guess the author didn't release a version to try?
