Can the IO board be constructed per function required?

Hi all,

Obviously a lot of cases make use of some features of the IO board, like the buttons and LEDs. My question is, is there a way of building/populating the board to only utilise these features (and the fan as well) without too much hassle? And if so, would it be a task an amateur solderer like myself could accomplish?

Thanks in advance!

I would say it depends on what functions you want and how good your electronic understanding is. Most (all) of the info you need can be found on GitHub.

There is no manual for "dummies" that says you need to solder this and that to get a certain functionality. But if you can "read" and understand the pcb you are good to go: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Hardwar ... rd_5.5.pdf

Sounds like you might just be better off with the digital IO board.

Is that different from the regular one? Again, really only want one for the buttons/LEDs and fan mount, don't need the extra ports etc.

Edit: That looks perfect in its bare form, and seems like it can be fully operational (for me) without having to solder unneeded parts/ports.
