The ao486 core just plain doesn't show up in my core list. The core is on the SD card (I FTPed to verify). All the folders are there. But I can't select it in the core list. I've had it working in the past. I've tried running the updater script to see if that helps, but it doesn't.

Any suggestions?

you have renamed it using the names.txt file. You should open the names.txt and check what the A0486 corer is renamed to.
