Nightmare Creatures won't load

I've been unable to get this game to run, and honestly of the games I've tried this has been the only problematic one so far. Boots and gets to the black background playstation logo and just stays there. Tried both chd and bin+cue to see if it made a difference, also checked hashes against redump's database to make sure it's not a bad rip. This is the US version as well.
