So in the saves folder, I see a .SAV file. I then downloaded some saves that were .gme and changed the name and transferred them to said folder. The game couldn't find the file. I then changed the name to .mcd and the same thing. Am I doing something wrong?

The GME format is a proprietary format used by the long-obsolete DexDrive peripheral. The MiSTer PSX core uses a raw memory card image. There is a website that can convert some GME files, but for others it said the file wasn't in the correct format: https://savefileconverter.com/#/ps1/dexdrive
