Stumped with what could be wrong?

Unread post by johns123 »

This is VERY strange! so I am retrying my mister (I have a new USB hub thingy) as I damaged one the other day so had to get a replacement. I am in a very strange situation here. I got a new power thing connected to it (better for my case apparently) I am only initially trying to rebuild before I attempt the case. Now if I plug 2 ports into my power supply (can take a pic explaiing what I mean) I get power to the USB'S but NO HDMI however if I use one port of the power supply I get power to the HDMI but no USB connection. I am absoutely stumped

Your descriptions are too vague to troubleshoot. Pictures of the Splitter and the components are needed

Never seen that power supply before. Maybe try another one? Seems your problem is power related.

Right to update a bit here. I have tried the splitter into DE-10 both ends powering on but neither powering on when connected to the USB hub but if I put both ends of splitter say DE-10 and USB hub i'll get USB but no HDMI just into the DE-10 alone i'll get HDMI but no USB

The two boards are powered separately in this setup. My guess is that your power supply isn't sufficient to run both boards at the same time. You might verify look at the amp/wattage. The one that terasic provides for the de-10 is 5V 2A/10 W. That one might not be enough for USB depending upon what devices you attach there. I upgraded to this 5V 4A/20 W supply recommended by My Life in Gaming and its worked great since. You can also find similar upgraded supplies from many Mister vendors.

You might also try connecting through your split power adapter to just one power input or the other, to ensure that its not the splitter at fault.

It's defo not the splitter. Ruled that out (I am on the discord board too) tested it thoroughly and not the splitter. My power supply is this one:

Try using two separate power supplies to rule out a splitter issue or not having enough power.

Also see if it works disconnecting the USB board to the DE-10. If both power up maybe there is a problem with the bridge.

Also some TVs are picky with the HDMi signal.Make sure you use a default INI with the 720p output and vsync=0 first.

I have all 7 USB ports working so that not a issue. I gonna have a look at my ini file a bit later. I think it's all hunky dory now just these couple of minor issues (TV and hard drive with games on it) but I got a Y cable on the way to deal with the games problem I'll look at the TV later but the amazon fire tv isn't exactly a bad thing for it atm as I probably gonna get my youtube channel going a bit again and the MISTER could play a important part here ;)

I think that would explain your C64 problem. I might be wrong but I think the C64 core boots to a black screen if there’s no RAM module.

And other systems I like (amstrad so forth) I'll check pins on everything later just incase but suspect I know only knew I stlll had the ram module today on my dead de-10 plugged it in nope not recognised

You'll never guess what............My new 128MB ram chip arrived. Happy days! then er......................no. Not being detected (and yep it's in the correct place too) ARGH!
