Terminator Mega CD No Sound

Hi

today i found a really great game on the Sega Mega CD

TERMINATOR

Great Plattformer with awesome music.
Too bad that on the 5th stage suddenly the music stops. Onyl sound FX are audible.
Music comes back after 5 mins. Tested it two times.

We need more information
What core version? Latest?
Is your rom copy redump verified?

Updated last Weekend 09.12.23

The Game is a CHD as all other Sega Saturn Games which are running all good.
CHD Sega CD - NTSC Collection Archive....

I didnt found another Version of the game so i can test if the problem is on the game itself.
Its only in US available which i have used

Skip to stage 5 and the music won't work?

Yes.

Youll start in Stage 5 and everything is fine. Music and SFX...
Than after 3-4 mins youll reach an area where you have to take an elevator.
Than the music suddenly disappear. Only SFX audible. After a few mins the music come back.

You can download the rbf file here:

Place it in fat/_console. You need to delete your current MegaCD rbf file.

Hey...

I compared the Core Version.
I have used the older one from 16th Jul 2023
I tried the latest one from 4th Dec 2023.

Same issue. Stage 5 Music stops....

BUT THAN

I searched for a new uncompressed file and did a new CHD with less compression and voila...
Got a working Version. Played it till the last stage without any sound problems.
Only while loading the FMV sequence there is a lil crakcling audible but this is not important.

That's why i never use CHD compressed stuff. There are always some kind of sound/music/sync issues that you notice later ingame.

Oh yeah? Hmmm, It’s definitely not something I recall seeing a lot of people say..maybe there are a lot more posts about this…

It depends, i guess. By grabbing sets with CHDs compressed images you never know what you get (which CHD version, what compression rate). I'm really too lazy to CHD all this stuff on my own, to make sure it works as expected. Larger SD card/SSD storage isn't that expensive anymore, and i don't need full sets for every system on 1-2 cards/SSDs.

I've seen some 'bad' CHDs, but it wasn't related to compression rate as far as I can tell. I use them religiously on MiSTer and Retroarch without issue at all.

Well i have al lot of CHD on my Mister and this was the first game which do have such issues depending the CHD.

But good to know that my problem does not occur from the core itself.
