MiSTer case upgrade

Unread post by misterrocks »

I'm using the misteraddons enclosure but access to the SD card is difficult. Is there a better case?

That will be tied to his AIO board though

The newer version of the MiSTerAddons case should at least prevent the microSD card from falling in which is good. I use precision tweezers to get the microsd card out of mine, and yeah I just use ssh and SMB to administer the files on the card if needed.

I find that another microsd card inserted into a USB reader makes a good tool for removing the microsd card in the aluminum case - or at least getting it ejected from the slot. Actually grabbing it isn't made any easier by doing this.

I will most often manage files over the network unless doing so is going to take far longer than just plugging the microsd card into a computer, and this is because of how fiddly it can be to remove and reinsert. I dropped it into the case the last time I did that.

That sounds great. Any reference online? Any ETA that you know of?

I'm not sure what you mean. How does a second microSD card connected via USB help?

You're not plugging the microSD card into any USB slot. You're using a microSD card inserted into a reader as a tool to then eject the other SD card from the MiSTer's slot. The reader just holds onto the SD card you're using as an ejection tool. It's easier to grip the reader than it is to grip the other microSD card on its own.

A slim screwdriver or even the edge of a credit card also work fine.

Oh he's just got it dialed in so it shouldn't fall in anymore currently. It's been that way the last year or two. You have to make sure you use the right spacers and follow the instructions correctly to get it right though.

Instructions for installation or instructions for use?

Do you think the old case can be retrofitted? Mine is happy to swallow microSD cards.
