Thank you guys.
I was worried that it would be a very dumb question but I got a lot of answers.
So basically we won't have to fear anything, there won't be an "hotter core", even if it seems "unreal" like the PSX one.
MISTer continues to amaze me and us.

About the temperatures of this new PSX core
Hi everybody,
sorry, I have a dumb question here. Does anyone have measured the DE10-Nano temperatures while using this core?
Will this "impossible" core stress the board enough that we require to add an active fan?
Thank you!

Re: USB Hub not functioning after a cold reboot
I use this one:
https://www.amazon.it/dp/B01566WOAG/
with an adapter Micro USB -> DC. It's 3A and I don't have USB HDD connected, "only" wifi adapter and the Xbox One controller.
Anyway the next order from Nat (misterfpga.co.uk) will be that PSU.

USB Hub not functioning after a cold reboot
Hi everybody, sorry for the dumb question. I was playing Castlevania on GBA few hours ago and I asked a cold reboot from the OSD. After that, every device connected to the USB HUB (v2.1), including the keyboard, gamepad and wifi adapter, stopped working. I tried to plug and unplug them but nothing changed, like the HUB was totally disconnected, non...

Screen trembling and flashing when in "command line"
Hi everybody,
sorry for the dumb question. I plugged in the MISTer to my new TV via HDMI, and when the main was updating i got these problems on the screen:
Do you know what are and what is causing them?
I just bought the Digital I/O board and it happens only on "command line screen".
Thank you!

Re: Recreating a Competition Pro
Thank you both. I failed to mention that I meant with USB connection, but this ArcadeR seems good since it has suction cups.
Would I need this adapter to plug into the MISTer?

Hi everybody, need your help here. Some months ago I bought the THEC64 Micro Switch Joystick for all C64 and Amiga related games, but I found it very unstable on the surface and stiff. It seems that che Speedlink one is the same. Does anyone know a better joystick just for those games? I also thought it was a great idea to build a new one using: De...

Re: Xbox Wireless Adapter Driver (xow) Ready for Testing
Sorgelig updated the linux kernel today so my custom kernel is no longer needed. However, the update script needs a change to automatically download the xow scripts but this should be implemented really soon. Bumping an old thread here to say thank you and add two questions. 1) Do we have to run “xow_on” scripts anyway or is it useless now? 2) Doe...

Thanks. I posted here before you posted that .ini.
Anyway for those who are reading this in the future, all you need to do is copy/paste the code of every .ini file at the end of the Mister.ini file.

Custom aspect ratio/modelines and ini files
Hi everybody,
sorry for the dumb question. I found these ini files for custom aspect ratio and modelines for CPS core.
https://www.patreon.com/posts/47704037
Can anyone tell me how to use them?
Are those file created to display more accurate scalelines like there were on the arcades?
Thanks

Re: SDRAM Reliability
Sorg thank you for your input. Also, with existing CPS1.5 core we have an additional test for memory, so sellers will test their modules on this core before ship. Still there can be a very small amount of modules passed on seller's test platform which will fail on user, but it will be very small fraction. Reputable seller will replace it. The probl...

Re: SDRAM Reliability
As long as JT is willing, or capable, to put his observations into silicone, I'm betting people would flock to buy the new and improved modules. Frankly I wouldn’t, I bought in September a 128 MB board from https://misterfpga.co.uk that fails in SFZero CPS 1.5 and I bought it to be future proof, and it wasn’t really cheap as I live in Italy. I hop...

Re: CPS 1.5
Load some game of cps1 and as soon as the first image appears load the cadillac and dinossaur and leave in attract mode until you reach the forest stage where the three descend from the car until they pass through a tree, see if they pass this part without giving error This is what I did: 1) Put the plug and turn on the MISTer 2) Arcade -> C&D...

Re: CPS 1.5
We could ask if Nat changed something in assembling the boards through time if it does mean something. I don’t know if he’s here on the forum but it’s a very kind person.
I bought my board in September 2020, it’s a black board, v2.5, never had issues with other cores beside CPS1.5.

Re: CPS 1.5
I got the 128 MB from Nat too and it’s very random. Three days ago I couldn’t start the first round of SFZero CPS1.5, yesterday I fought with three opponents. Before SFZero I played without issue C&D and The Punisher. It could depend if it’s the first core loaded after the boot or not, I don’t know, but it’s very random. I'm pretty clueless too...

Re: CPS 1.5
I’m a little worried because I don’t know how to do that mod and that would mean to send the board back to misterfpga.co.uk to get it done if it becomes a necessary modification.
And from Italy it isn’t an easy and cheap task to do.

It looks like an hardware mod solution.
In the thread of the same tweet someone says that the capacitor jotego added should already be there by v2.4/2.5 design.

Re: Strange behiavior with HDMI and audio
Thank you aberu. It's a cable problem, I changed the HDMI cable and now I have the sound as soon as the MISTer boots. Didn't need to change anything in MISTer.ini. If I touch the cable nothing happens anymore. To avoid confusion I threw to the trash the old one. Anyone can explain me why? In any case, does the "hdmi_audio_96k=1" settings ...

Strange behiavior with HDMI and audio
Hi everybody, I got an ASUS PB2480Q monitor and I connect the MISTer via HDMI to it. As soon as I boot the MISTer there is no audio, but when I literally touch the HDMI cable the monitor turns off for a second and then the audio works. I don't have any issue like that with any other devices connected to the monitor. Is there anything I can do? Than...

Re: CPS 1.5
I think you've missed a critical component of the explanation. It's the SDRAM controller that overdrove the modules - the newly-written SDRAM controller which is specific to Jotego's cores. You'll notice the other cores don't have problems. But don't say it's bad chips; that explanation shows a profound misunderstanding of what's going on. That is...

Re: CPS 1.5
Thanks again for your explanation.
My only doubt is if the problem is also originated by vendors using “not so good” caps since jotego also wrote to check that.

Re: CPS 1.5
Thank you guys.
I hope in the future none of the developers will need and put a new module requirement so that anyone who already bought it is safe.
Is this “limitation” part of the design of the board or is it caused by the capacitors choice from the sellers?

From RetroDriven to UpdateAll
Hi everybody,
I noticed that the RetroDriven script won’t be update from January 2021.
Since it uses a different folder structure from UpdateAll script, how do I “clean” the SD and start downloading all over again with the UpdateAll script without messing things?
Thanks

Thanks. I hope he can choose the first one.
So the only way to test it’s to run the update via RetroDriven or similar and run CPS 1.5 games for “a long time”?
I just ran RetroDriven update script and did the first stage of C&D and had no issues. I’m using a v2.5 bought in October from misterfpga.co.uk.

In the post he says “Decoupling caps are not good enough”, does this mean that we could have “not good enough” 128 MB modules?
